He was buried at sea so that the nuts won't have a place to make a pilgrimage to.

So his burial sight wouldn't become a sick shrine.
    and
So people will believe he's renting a room from Elvis.

icon_lol.gif I was thinking the same thing.

I found it odd that they were saying they have his body, last night, and now they're saying he was buried at sea. But I'm suspicious by nature.

They had his body, took pictures, took DNA evidence, then dumped him.

Sounds like the typical MO for a serial killer on South Beach. icon_lol.gif

Its a great idea that they dumped him at sea. Could you imagine how his burial site would have become a shrine to him? Extremists would come from all over the world to honor him as a "martyr". They made the best choice in dumping him.

He had to be buried within a 24-hour period following death under Islamic law. While he didn't really deserve such consideration, given that the terrorists dump their own Muslim victims to rot, often decapitated, the fear was that moderate Muslims would feel sympathy for bin Laden if the "Infidels" desecrated the remains according to their religion. It was decided better to afford bin Laden this accommodation and make the Americans appear more Islamic-friendly, while denying his followers a propaganda tool to use against us.

A more conventional burial in the ground was deemed impractical because of time constraints. The helicopters with the team and the body had to return to an aircraft carrier at sea. There examinations of the body had to be performed to positively established its identity.

A country willing to accept the body also had to be found (because of security it was too risky to prearrange that). That country would have to be within a short flying distance to stay under 24 hours. But we did not want it to be one where the gravesite might become a terrorist shrine. Since the body was already aboard an aircraft carrier, a sea burial was deemed practical and acceptable under Islamic law, and pre-arrangements had been made for a Muslim cleansing ritual aboard the ship. This was all contingent on bin Laden not being taken alive. It shows the detail to which this operation was planned.

Some Muslim scholars (mainly the more radical, anti-Western ones) are rejecting that last argument, saying a sea burial is only acceptable when the death occurs far out at sea. Other Muslim clerics say it is acceptable, since Islamic law is evidently not very clear on this point. I think the Administration made the best choice.

They should have returned the body to his family. They also said that they burned him which doesn't make any sense since he was Muslim (if it was meant as a burial thing), unless he was secretly Hindi they shouldn't have done that. Also the supposed 'they didn't want a shrine to made', well they can do that without a body I believe.

Hopefully the sharks get to it, though I thought the carcass was burned to ashes.

And in that case, it will disperse pretty far and wide.

To respect the Muslim belief of being buried with in 24 hours, and America feared releasing him to his people, would only turne it into a shrine, and America did not want that.

His birth place will become that.

please note that i am not complaining or criticizing the burial at sea method.

i was just wondering how and why this method was chosen and used.

AD explains why quite logically and rationally.

Nobody cares , do you ask yourself why you live in a western country ?

A couple of truths the West is learning.

A Islamic butcher is worth more to a Muslim than a 100 innocents.

No matter what Bin Laden did or said he is still a brother to you, so anything you say really doesn't resonate.

You are not going to find too many sympathetic friends in the west.

Sometimes they do feed us crap. But we are willing and able to fight for the truth, and can reject the crap, unlike many Muslim countries, where it's force fed to you daily, by the government, and by religious clerics.

It must be easy for you to sit on your butt in Great Britain and watch Muslims in other countries die for the right to even stand up and express an independent word or thought.

Bin Laden, and others like him would never have succeeded, because any normal, thinking person will eventually reject the tyranny of religious and governmental, and media, force feeding of crap. In America, if we want crap, we can just turn to FOX News, the "Christian" networks, and the Republican Party. But, at least we can turn it off when we've had enough.

What you never watch CNN; COMUNIST NETWORK NEWS.

But in Obama's Socialist States of America, in Obama's words: One Nation Under God. Sorry but with Obama's change, that has exactly left just that in the pockets of Americans. I would not want to call America home either. When I heard One nation Under God come from him, all I could hear was You can hate all the Arabs, and the blacks and the fags, so long as you pray and solute your flag. I I'll still call Australia home; thank you very Much.
