So...I live in Michigan right now and just got offered a position in L.A., CA. This position is through Americorps, so I live off of a stipend for the duration of the commitment. I just graduated college and have really been looking forward to having my own place (no roomies).

I was wondering if any of you L.A. guys know of any good/cheap places to rent that is feasible for 1 person. Or if you have any connections.

I literally do not know anyone in California, so I could use all the help offered. Would be nice if someone in the RJ Community could help a fellow out.

    Much appreciation icon_cool.gif

I guess any 'must-see' spots or places to check out for a youthful bi-guy would be cool too. Thanks!

LA is huge. I think you should provide a little more detail on your work location so the guys will be able to help you better.

I wonder why he deleted his original post. Does that mean that he did not get the job....or that he did not like the advice? ;)

In LA, it is usually best work live close to work so you wont have to deal with much traffic. If you plan on using mass transit and you can get to your job easily from a station, then it is good to live near one of the stations.

Koreatown, you can sometimes find some affordable places. A lot depends on what you are looking for...what kind of lifestyle you want to live vs. what you can comfortably afford. Also, do you plan on renting or buying?

A lot more details are necessary in order to help provide you with some good options.

My dad worked for LA Housing Police West Adams District for over 20 years good job. But the economy was different then. Lots of bullshit and favoritism went on. But he loved it. He's dead now from lung cancer. But good luck to you!
