Favourite Harry Potter Character ( In the books )

For me personally it would have to be Percy Weasley or Oliver Wood as they are both ends of the spectrum of the jock and nerd, which is kinda like me smack bang in the middle personality wise. I love Percy's dedication to his job and Oliver's intesity for his sport and fitness. Out of the trio it would have to be Ron Weasley.

And yes, I am a happy HP fan icon_smile.gif

Dobby's death was the second hardest for me. I have to admit, I was a bid Dumbledore fan, even before confirmation came that he played for our team. A little maudlin, at times, but he also gave some terrific speeches, and was more complex of a character than the standard Great And Powerful Old Wizard Archetype. The quirky strangeness was quite endearing to me, as was the bristling child-like energy.

Also, I'll disagree with the previous poster who said Percy's the nerd. Hermione's the nerd. Percy's the prick of the books. Though he somehow bested Hermione on the OWLs (which I assume is because Rowling hadn't really counted out OWLs at the time she wrote that he got 12), I never quite got how he was in Gryffindor; the house which is supposed to be filled with the incredibly ambitious is Slytherin, which would have fit his get-ahead-at-any-cost, abandon-your-family-if-it's-expedient mentality a bit better than Gryffindor did...

Thank you GettingFitter for a Harry Potter post. My favorite character is Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore, followed closely by Minerva McGonagall.

Don't know what happened to Umbridge. The fat toad's fate will hopefully be revealed when Jo writes her encyclopdia. What house do you think Umbridge belonged to? This question was posed on Pottercast. I would put her in Slytherin or Ravenclaw.

    I haven't read Book 6 and 7 yet.

I have to say Hermione. She's the kind of kid you'd want to have. Hehe

I think Umbridge is in Slytherin. I kinda wished those centaurs ate her.

    And... DOBBY DIED?! icon_cry.gif

My faves are Fred and George. I love their zest for fun and adventure as well as their don't give a shit attitude. I loved it when they did things to drive Umbridge crazy and I like that they left Hogwarts before graduation but became very successful businessmen by following their dream.

P.S. GettingFitter, how can you like Percy Weasley? He became a complete and total prick in books 6 and 7.

LOL icon_smile.gif I don't think Percy was a git in the last three books, just somewhat misguided on where his loyalties were as he looked up to the Ministry all his life and do have that faith shaken must have done his head in quite a bit. Also I understand what it is like to be an outsider in a big family and the somewhat whipping boy for your younger siblings to make fun at, so in those respects I can identify with Percy the most out of the Weasley children. Also, I still think dear Percy may be a little on the gay side despite what ever JK says icon_twisted.gif

Also, did anyone here go WTF when JK announced Dumbledore was gay ? I mean, as an avid slash reader I always thought there was something going on between Dumbledore and Grindlewald in Deathly Hallows thanks to the letters, but when she said it out loud I thought - DUDE ! WTF ?!

Oh, and on a personal level I always thought Quidditch was a sport rifle with opportunity for gay innuendo LOL. If only she wrote shower room scenes in the books.......

Nope. Never considered it until after JK announced it.

Oh, another favorite character is Neville. He starts out as a total geek/loser in book one but grows tremendously through the series. By the end he becomes an extremely talented wizard and finally a professor at Hogwarts.

My favorite character is Hermione. Smart, brilliant, supportive, snarky. She's great :-)

Also, I wouldn't mind shacking up with Oliver Wood (who's name in real life is Sean Biggerstaff - I would like to put that to the test!)

Firenze, the Centaur, even though he's a "minor" character.
Great body... probably hung like a horse too (hahaha) icon_lol.gificon_wink.gificon_rolleyes.gif

Actually, all joking aside, my favorite character is Hagrid... big guy with a bigger heart. He's very loveable.

Snape....without a doubt. He's got that wonderful capability to sneer and talk at the same time. I love his lines in the first two movies...."...someone will think you are.....UP....to something..."

    I love Potter Puppet Pals.

More relevantly, my favourite characters are:

    1. Dumbledore - just awesome. Plus, I knew he was gay all along. icon_cool.gif

    2. McGonagall - badass.

    3. Snape - only because Alan Rickman rocks the character.

    4. Hermione - knows everything, Harry and Ron would totally have been dead by the end of the 2nd book without her.

    WHOOPS!

    1. McGonagall. Always cool and in control.
    2. Bellatrix Lestrange. The b*tch you love to hate.
    3. The Entire Weasley Family. Reminds me of my own.
    4. Luna Lovegood. Reminds me when I was in school.

Sirius Black. He had such strength of character that he was able to escape from wizard prison after 13 years imprisonment to save his godson. He also overcame a dark childhood to become a good person.
