Guys , I just thought about this - this morning. Why is it that men at the gym are usually about 95 percent of the times, the ones staring at them selves in the mirror. Women on the other end, I rarely see them do that.
I rarely see a woman standing in the gym mirror looking at cute her belly looks or calves or pose for mirror. But all the dudes are always there lifting their shirts and looking at themselves. I dont do that because I think its a bit much. I never understood this phenomenon

Thought id put the totally gay Arod to demonstrate

Because women already spent 2 hours in front of a mirror before the gym so they don't need to look at themselves anymore. icon_lol.gif

But really, I see women look at themselves when they are doing something in front of the mirror. Problem is that it is usually guys doing stuff around the mirrors since it is the weight section. I watch myself in the mirror, I am not ashamed! Gives me motivation whether it is "yeah, you are getting bigger, let's keep going!" or "ugh you look like a tiny piece of shit, pick up more weight!!" icon_biggrin.gif

Maybe women are more conditioned by our culture to focus on their perceived flaws and do want to look at them in the mirror.

It's because I'm fucking hot and I can't stop staring at myself, and I want the whole fucking gym to see me and be jealous. Later I'll go home and fap in my own mirror.

^This. There have been numerous studies done (here's one I found really quickly: http://prevos.net/ola/body_image.pdf) that show that women's self-perception is usually worse than men's.

On the practical aspect of the issue, I watch myself in the mirror to make sure I am keeping good posture and correctly performing whatever exercise that I'm engaged in. I've watched too many guys working out that have horrific form. If your posture is poor, you're not getting the full benefit of the workout.

This! Mirrors help you keep an eye on your form.

Maybe women don't look in mirrors because they feel unattractive if they're all sweaty and without makeup?

Yeh women look in the mirror and see their 30" waist as a 40" waist

I look in the mirror and see my 14" arms as 24" arms

I look at myself constantly in mirrors, but for different reasons. Maybe it's an autistic thing, but I'm actually very fascinated by my own reflection. Not in any sort of vain "holier-than-thou" manner, but more of the self-aware "is that what I really look like to other people?"

Sadly, mirrors tend to make me very self-critical and harsh and frustrated. I still see myself as fat, even though nobody would ever call me that if they saw me... icon_sad.gif

Thanks! Hahahaha kidding, I'm no where near muscular.

I seriously think gym mirrors makes your reflection look bigger, cause I look totally different in the gym and at home. But anyway, it doesn't matter where the mirror is, as long as there's a chance to see my reflection, I will look.

And yes, guys are vain. (I seem to be typing incoherently today.)

I've been doing it wrong. I mostly use the mirror to check out my form.

Oh, I will stare at myself on the treadmill. I really don't like the treadmill at all. My narcissism is the only way I can keep myself distracted while running on the treadmill.
