Who else plays? DISCUSS. For those who don't know what Magic: the Gathering is, it's what Pokemon cards wished they could be.

I tried getting into MTG when I was younger, but it was too complicated for me to keep up with it. Not to mention it was expensive, and I was playing another TCG at the time. Always did love the morbid art though icon_biggrin.gif

When I was younger, but no one around my area to play with! I like the Xbox Live game, and the old PC game.

I actually bought a starter deck and taught myself best I could. I suffered from the 'no one around to play with' problem as well.

I played when I was in high school, and still bust out the deck whenever I see my high school friends again. Unfortunately, I focused more on collecting certain cards than building a solid deck, so I was never any good.

Awesome... I had a couple of friends that played, but for many it was a fad that went out of style.

Yea I play. I didn't get into it until recently, and fortunately I have been able to just build decks from my friend's massive stockpiles of cards.

I didn't think i'd enjoy it at first but its pretty good times actually =P

I used to love it in high school. My goblin deck was good, but my burn deck was unstoppable. icon_smile.gif

I still have the cards somewhere in storage.

That thing could only win you a game after 24 turns... isnt that a bit slow?

I mostly played vintage before I moved. Even have 4 of the power 9. Nobody in this town plays anything other than standard so I've mostly been playing EDH with a few friends and the occasional draft.

I've mostly been playing Oath of Druids in vintage (best deck w/o power) and an Arcum Dagson deck in EDH which has yet to lose a match.

Hey I play! I haven't been playing for very long, though, especially compared to my friends, who have played for long and have a good general knowledge about all the sets, and always crack jokes about it, and I can't follow what they're saying icon_sad.gif I still try to partake with them, though.

I play all the time with my fratbro's LOL.

Just as an FYI, any self-respecting nerd shop will host Friday Night Magic tournaments so there's always somewhere you can play.

As well, go to just about any university math lounge and you'll have a whole host of people to play with.

You can also check out a program called Magic Workstation - allows you to build decks and play online for free :-)

My current favourite is my dragon deck (though I DO love my lifegain vampire/artifact deck) mostly because of this guy:
    browse.php?u=Oi8vZ2F0aGVyZXIud2l6YXJkcy5

Flying, swings for 5 and he's got firebreathing (though at 2 colourless it's rather expensive firebreathing) but his greatest asset is the ability to pay the CMC of whatever permanent is on the board to kill it, without having to hit it.

GREAT way to mop up tokens from cards like browse.php?u=Oi8vZ2F0aGVyZXIud2l6YXJkcy5

    or a Reverberated Devastating Summons,
    browse.php?u=Oi8vZ2F0aGVyZXIud2l6YXJkcy5browse.php?u=Oi8vZ2F0aGVyZXIud2l6YXJkcy5

cause tokens have a CMC of zero - you don't even have to pay mana to kill them LOL. (you should have seen the look on my buddy's face the first time he sac'd 7 lands for 4 7/7's and dropped a bushwacker to grant haste, only to have me block them all and then have them removed next turn when I swung with the steel hellkite - to a red deck, it's death if you can't get the dev summons to stick).

    Yeah, I'm that nerdy icon_twisted.gif

I'm not sure what constitutes as a 'nerd shop', but the comic shop I go to offers only games such as War Hammer and other role playing games where you can buy the figures and paint them and make scenic decorations. They have gatherings for those. Then again this is tennessee and anything good here is difficult to find.
