Since the last elections, the GOP has:

    1) Tried to deny women access to healthcare
    2) Attempted to dismantle Medicare and replace it with Coupon Care
    3) Pushed for more tax breaks for millionaires
    4) Still has not produced a jobs bill
    5) Vetted Obama's Birth Certificate
    6) Failed to cut $100 billion from the 2011 budget

How is that "Taking Back America" thingy working out for you?

You should have heard the rampage from a GOP legislator today on the senate floor here in Florida.. she RIPPED her 'colleagues' for wasting time with 'abortion' issues and bills while her constituency was screaming for help keeping the lights on and their bills paid.. She really went off on them.. but.... they went ahead and continued with the 'abortion' bills because those are more important.

    Heres the GOP agenda:

"I don't want to have to continually talk about these issues on this floor when I have people pleading with me to 'Please help me find money to keep my lights on,'" said Lynn, an Ormond Beach Republican who has been in the Legislature since 1994. "This is not the issue that it is the most important issue in the state."

    But a majority apparently disagreed.

"You are here to answer the great questions of life," said Sen. Ronda Storms, R-Valrico. "For most of you, it's what you believe to your core."

7 ) Eliminate civil rights for gays
8 ) Cancel gay marriages in States that have permitted them (contrary to the Republican mantra of "States Rights")
9 ) Block the repeal of DOMA
10 ) Block the repeal of DADT
11 ) Block hate crimes legislation to protect gays

Boy! What have you been smoking?? What the GOP has accomplished so quickly, is to aggressively work on stopping obamacare that Obama shoved down the throats of America.

The GOP is working on detaching planned parenthood's federal funds for abortion. The American people want that. Planned parenthood can find their own funding, not on my tax dollars.

The other three items you have listed, catfish5, Medicare. Obama damaged Medicare by throwing it under the obamacare bus. The GOP will restore the healthcare benefits so Americans can get their care and not be told what illnesses will be covered and who must die. Under restored Medicare, doctors will get paid again.

Bush's tax breaks...were designed to give breaks to those businesses that are employing people, small businesses, to put more money in the pockets of more Americans.

The birth certificate of Obama is a huge concern. Or I should say lack of birth certificate. All Americans, at one point or another, must show proof of citizenship. That goes especially for one going for u s president. The fact Obama kept refusing, brought on the rightly so concern. Obama's grandmother lived in Kenya and talked about caring for her grandson. Red flag. Only after obama "got" elected (courtesy of acorn) he immediately granted his grandmother immunity.

Creating jobs? I refer you back to the tax breaks.

Cutting $100 billion...the GOP has fought hard to give Americans money back to them that Harry Reid, Nancy pelosi, and Obama, cobwebbed into obamacare to hide the money. But! The GOP has found it and is going after obama's machine to give the money back.

The abortion issue that the naral, planned parenthood, now, have cleverly tried to redefine as "denying women's rights to healthcare," is really, as the radical feminists admit as abortion as recreation for those who want to have fun.

Less than 5 percent of abortions are due to the moms life at risk, but then that's done in the hospital, not a clinic, and worked with the family and the doctor.

I needed to correct your democratic way of thinking.

Socal - If there was anything resembling a "specific fact" in the previous post, I would have responded to it. What I won't do is debate fictions with someone who is woefully misinformed. You know that saying, "you're entitled to your own opinions but not your own facts."

    ----------Working on ?

The other three items you have listed, catfish5, Medicare. Obama damaged Medicare by throwing it under the obamacare bus. The GOP will restore the healthcare benefits so Americans can get their care and not be told what illnesses will be covered and who must die. Under restored Medicare, doctors will get paid again.
    ----------Will restore ?

Bush's tax breaks...were designed to give breaks to those businesses that are employing people, small businesses, to put more money in the pockets of more Americans.
----------Obama caved on that one, because he wants to get reelected, and he knows that the Republican Supreme Court ruled that corporations are now in charge of electing the President.

The birth certificate of Obama is a huge concern. Or I should say lack of birth certificate. All Americans, at one point or another, must show proof of citizenship. ---------100% racist lies and misinformation

Creating jobs? I refer you back to the tax breaks.
---------Oh, really ? Name ONE single job that the Republicans have created since the last election. ONE.

Cutting $100 billion...the GOP has fought hard to give Americans money back to them that Harry Reid, Nancy pelosi, and Obama, cobwebbed into obamacare to hide the money. But! The GOP has found it and is going after obama's machine to give the money back.
---------- "Fought hard ?" Show me ONE American who got any money back. ONE.

----------What ? Abortion is the law of the land. If you're trying to claim that the GOP has done something to repeal safe legal abortion, you're wrong.

I needed to correct your democratic way of thinking.

The OP used the word ACCOMPLISHED.
    "Working on" doesn't equal "accomplished."

Remember the great big, "Mission Accomplished" banner across the ship ?
It was pure, unadulterated bull shit, just like your post.

We need a little tinfoil hat intervention here
When the republicans such as yourself wanna stop the new healthcare law
What is it that they want to stop?
Because when you take each part .... the public Overwhelmingly wants to keep it
But you're sayin' you want to replace it with the republican plan?

I think you need to call Senator John Kyl's Office I know .... your INTENTION was to tell the truth
Planned Parenthood almost exclusively doesn't perform abortions

Bush's tax breaks...were designed to give breaks to those businesses that are employing people, small businesses, to put more money in the pockets of more Americans.

LOL ..... We have been living under THAT assumption since Ronnie
    and LOOK around you
You seein' any Mo' money in the pockets of Americans??
Just so you know Median income for the middle class has stagnated or gone down since the reign of ronnie

They halted an increasingly socialistic agenda which puts emphasis on government increasing direct control over areas which are currently more in the hands of the private sector. That is an accomplishment alone, even if they do nothing else.

The US is 1st in per capita healthcare dollars spent, yet we are 49th in life expectancy - below Cuba.

Republicans defend this system because they're stupid (voters) or corrupt (politicians) or very good liars (FOX News).

All these other countries below have tried "socialism" and their people are healthier, living longer and paying a lot less for health care. If this is Socialism...then I'm a Socialist.

well maybe once sometimes several times a day you generate one of these feel good "bash" republican threads.

I would say maybe a yahoo or Google chat with the same 6 people who chime in and agree with you would be more efficient.

Its not a conversation or a debate. Its the forum equivalent of graffiti.

And Christian73, Thorazine drips only exist in government health-care. We have better drugs nowadays.

Don't want to be taken for one of the RJ-consicon_razz.gif but I would say that the economic bubble probably didn't have purely political or regulatory origins. Bubbles happen, then they burst. This was a particularly bad one. Regulators are always chasing them in hindsight - and what happened before is not likely to happen again.

I misstated my comment. Instead of saying "specific facts", I should have said "specific points", to properly characterize what the other posted stated, a combination of opinions, either from the poster, some of which are general consensus points among critics of this administration. Nevertheless, my comment pertained to the dismissive response.

Except that's not why we had the crisis. We had the crisis because the government decided to engage in direct manipulation on an otherwise regular flow of the market that never would have engaged in the kind of lending practices forced upon them by congress. Congress (with the help of primarily liberal minds, like yours) ordered fannie freddie and ginnie to push into greater subprime lending which created a demand for commercial banks to produce bad loans. Of course, the reason for doing this was to help low-income people get more "affordable" loans and for some supposed purpose of creating more "diversity" in home ownership.

What happened was tantamount to a government telling a private business to engage in riskier behavior and in exchange they will cover the added insurance risk for them to do so. It was a "nothing-to-lose" situation that facilitated a mountain of irresponsible lending practices.

So no, this was not a situation where bankers woke up one day and said "you know, I think I'll just start making my own lending standards, create bad loans and ultimately lose my job just to make an extra buck this week". The biggest culprit in all of this was the government intervening and practically forcing and pressuring banks to engage in those bad lending practices (which they were more than happy to do, because the natural human tendency is greed).

Were you just completely sleeping last time this was being discussed?

We have these boom bust cycles every 7-9 years for various reasons - regulatory reasons or commodity prices or loose monetary policy at the fed – or? They've happened throughout our country's history and believe me, they will happen again.

That being said, Bush did put a modicum of effort into reigning in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac back in 2003 and was blocked by congress.
