The only problems I've ever had with burned DVDs was when I used cheap, crap-ass Sony disks. Verbatim disks have never given me any trouble.

Did you close the session on the disc? If not, that's most likely the problem.

The DVD burners in computers can burn disks that a normal player has difficulty reading - this can be due to speed issues writing disks.

One thing I'd try is to burn the disk at a slower speed - not the maximum the media can support - so around 4x (Particularly if the DVD Player is an older model)
