The soundtrack was recommended to me by a friend and I listened to it. I admit I laughed a few times, but I was really expecting more from Trey Parker and Matt Stone. Their music is usually consistently hilarious and these songs were just not quite up to the standards of all their other stuff.
I was disappointed. I wasn't all that interested before, but now I really have no interest in seeing this.
I have to agree with much of the article. Reviews of the London production say how it manages to be both mocking, obscene, yet clever and unpredictable, and still highly musical and celebratory of the whole musical genre. It has something for quite a diverse range of audiences without being bland, etc.
