The Direct TV guy at best buy

When I go to best buy I know what I want and where to go to get it. I am hunting the aisles. Everytime I go in to any best buy the Direct TV guy or girl will always come up to me multiple times.

    1st encounter:

    - "Hi how ya doing?" (I see his shirt with DIRECT TV plastered on it and think "get away from me")

    - I say,"Fine thanks have a good day." with a smile and walk on.

    2nd encounter

-2 minutes later in the Blueray section

    - "Can I help you find something?" (as I have a blueray in my hand reading the back of it.)

    - I say, " NO, got what I need, thank you."

    3rd encounter

    - "Who is your TV provid...."

    - I interrupt him at this point and say, " Thank you I am fine I don't need nor want Direct TV my sister has it and I cannot stand it, thank you."

    - "What don't you like about it?"

    - At this point I am getting irritated with the hard sell, and the fact that he cannot sense my body language, tone of voice, or even understand how irritated I am with his constant interruptions.

    - "I don't like the interface, the volume issues my sister has with comercials, and the channel line up of 900 channels interspersed with the ones I want to watch." (He attempts to talk again)

    - I say, " I am done with this conversation, get away from me, I hate the hard sell your doing and the fact that you cannot seem to understand when your not going to make a sale." I walk away

This happened in 4 Best buy stores over the last two months and sometimes with the same DIRECT TV douche. each encounter I have gotten more terse with sales person. I know they are just trying to make a commission on a sale but I just don't care.

Has this happened to anyone else?

I haven't been to Best Buy in a few years.

I've seen some overeager sales people and I do the purchasing at work so I deal with sales calls. When someone goes on giving me the sales pitch even after I tell them that I'm not interested, I stop talking to them. If it's a phone call, I hang up. If it's in person, I stop talking and walk away.
You make it clear that you're not interested and then feel free to end the conversation. If you value your time, then you don't owe others something. You don't have to waste time listening to something in which you already said that you weren't interested.

I just tell them I watch all my shows online or on Netflix. And I have no use for cable or satellite. They pretty much leave me alone after.

That's a shame. They should have stricter regulations about the hotness of their salesmen.

BestBuy Sucks; my friend and his wife went to best buy the other day to purchase an iPad and they had that ask question look on their face, none of the sales staff would approach them in fact, they went out of their way to avoid the couple, when he finally ran after a sales guy, my friend commented how difficult it is to get sales help there, the guy replied " we donot get commission on what we sell just an hourly rate" and people wonder why big companies take jobs out of country.

This is actually an independent company that works in Best Buy called Smart Circle marketing. They work strictly on commission (they get $100 for each activation they sell.) It's the same company that works in Sam's Club and other retailers trying to sell you anything from make-up and knives to a new bathroom. They are trained to badger you. If it's truly an issue talk to the manager every time. If they get enough complaints they will kick them out. (i worked for them for about a month, they are a dirty and rotten company.)

This happened to me the other day at Best Buy. I told they direct tv guy I live with 2 other guys and any long term plan in a temporary living space wouldn't work. The direct tv guy bugged me a couple more times in the same Best Buy trip. The upside is he made feel good about myself. icon_biggrin.gif

This happens every time I go to Best Buy, but only once per trip because I always let them know right up front I use over the air broadcast. Never had a follow up question, guess because you can't compete with free. Netflix/Hulu/ and the Internet round out my entertainment needs.

I am not a sales person but more power to these people they sound hungry. As long as they are not bugging me at my house 24/7 then I don't mind.

Perhaps therein lies the solution to the problem. To get them to leave you alone, respond to the sales pitch with sexual innuendo. Next time you are approached, move inappropriately close to the salesperson and position your hand near your crotch. Say something like 'No, I don't have dish TV, but I do have an extra long, tall antenna that is sticking straight up in the air now and it always gets good reception.'

That should shut them up. Or you might get lucky. Either way, win-win.

This is the exact same shit that happened to me the last time that I went to Best Buy. I left without buying anything. The guy was annoying as shit.
