rickrick91 saidThese right-wing hate groups are actively working to take away or block equal rights for gays.
They're our enemy and they work 24-7 against us.
If we don't fight back - they will win.
Yet some guys here will actively promote the homophobic right-wing candidates these groups are supporting for US offices, who will legislate against gay rights.
Their lame argument here is that they aren't personally interested in having a gay marriage themselves, and so nobody else should be, either. And they think a Republican electoral majority will help them financially (the proven falsity of that proposition notwithstanding), since in their minds hoping to line their own greedy pockets takes precedence over the civil rights of other gays.
And they come here to a gay site like this, devoted to health & fitness, not politics at all, and try to recruit others to commit social suicide for their benefit, by supporting these right-wing homophobes at the election polls. Not wanting gay civil rights or marriage for themselves, but perceived profits for their bottom lines, they urge the rest of us to slit our own wrists by voting for right-wing homophobes.
ummm... no thank you. I'd rather not sacrifice my well-being for theirs. No more than they're prepared to do the same for the rest of us gays. Though I truly believe their model is flawed, and it's themselves they're sabotaging as well, not just the rest of us for their own personal greed.
Very well said.
I have no problem with gays who sometimes vote for moderate socially liberal Repubs.
There's nothing about that that I object to.
Being a lockstep Democrat is not a requirement at all times if you're gay.
But to be a lockstep Republican who advocates day in and day out here on RJ and elsewhere for the Repubs, spreading right-wing talking points spin and BS - is totally despicable.
The VAST majority of Repubs are anti-gay in their beliefs and agenda, and they vote against our equal rights at every opportunity.
They DO NOT deserve our blind SHEEPLIKE unquestioning self-sacrificing support.
Those sad right-wing cases here on RJ and elsewhere who give their time and energy and votes unquestioningly and self-destructively to the Repubs are wrong wrong wrong.
There may be a few good decent non-hater Repubs who we can vote for, but the VAST majority are working against our equal rights.
For any of us to work to help elect these anti-gay politicicans is just NUTS.
The Repub party will NEVER change and become more supportive of gay rights if we don't FORCE them to - by voting against them until they change their anti-gay views and actions.
That's the only way they will pay any attention at all to our interests.
Until then, the Repubs will continue to support the anti-gay views of the religious right.
