I get to SF quite often for work and was looking for some insite on good running routes in the City. Normally, I run along the Embarcadero but I was hoping to increase the distance. Anyone know of any good routes? Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

it's a great city to run in, isn't it? Check out USATF.org for running routes listed by city. A quick and dirty we do is starting at the Embarcadero, up California, right at Kearney, up Telegraph Hill to Coit Tower (water break here) down the stairs along Marina and back to the Ferry Building!

    Hey...

Park in the Marina Green area near the Marina Safeway. Then run along GG Promenade to the GG Bridge, across the eastern sidewalk on the bridge to Vista Point, and back again. That's about 10 miles and spectacular.

The run on the Embarcadero is good. But if you get tired of urban running, GG Park has many, many trails, though I realize getting there maybe an issue.

Also, my running club has weekend runs in spectacular settings around the area...from 8 to 12 miles in length.

You can also email any of the officers (I'm one) to get more info on runs you might do depending upon where your hotel is.

I've run with the SF Frontrunners group when I'm in town. They're quite a large group plus they were very welcoming. Actually I try to run with a local Frontrunners group everywhere I travel. They have groups all over the map. Anyway, here's the SF group web page if you haven't seen it:

not exactly the center of the city, but Lake Merced in the southwest corner of the city is about 5 miles around the lake...

I also have to support running with frontrunners...very social and fun group...I run on Saturdays at 9 AM...Golden Gate Park near Stow Lake...
