As you will know part 4 is to be in theatres in a week

As you may read, the movie does not gain good reviews.... nontheless im an avid fan of this series, because it is replete with referneces to ancient pirate and cannibal myths from the Caribbean region, which I call home. I thus have a splendid time searching out the references in the movies and linking them to actual events and famous places .... It makes the movie experience a bit more meaningful

Thus I will do here for you now, as far as the legend of "the fountain of youth" is concerned

Now the story of the fountain of youth is a common myth among peoples everywhere, but in the case of the Caribbean fountain, the story was first told to the Europeans by the Arawak Indians of Puerto Rico and Hispaniola, who reported of a waterwell that would restore ones youth if you were to drink from it... The location of the fountain was given as "Bimini" in the Arawak language, which is the old name for the state of "Florida" in the Arawak languages...

Now there are several islands around the coasts of Florida that are now referred to as Bimini, and in these islands there was later discovered by a European, to be a freshwater hole located inside of a saltwater mangrove swamp... This "hole" is caused by sea water filtering through an extensive rocky mineral network, causing the water in the hole to be fresh and laden with minerals...

People who visit the hole report the water there to have an "invigorating" quality, no doubt because of the quality of the water and its minerals...

The hole is called "the Healing Hole" (surprise surprise) and its location can be found here
