I will be in Toronto for the victoria day long weekend, and I was wondering... What is there to do in Toronto?? Do any of you guys know of any events happening that weekend? I'm only there for 3 days; what are some places that I absolutely HAVE to check out, and what shouldn't I bother doing. I'm staying at a hotel near Bloor St. W and Church St, which is apparently close to the gay village? I'm so excited!

If you are 19 + (I am not), then you have gay clubs on church street... gay pubs... gay parties (outdoor ones)... shops for those that like shopping (obviously), anything basically.

Toronto has lots of fun stuff to do. Depending on the weather you can wander around and enjoy all the nice patios. If you want to do gay stuff then Church street is the place to go. If its super nice go to the Island (but itll be too cold to swim with yet). but wander around to some of the other Toronto neighbourhoods too. Check out Little Italy, Chinatown, the Danforth, Queen West. Just ask at the hotel and they can tell you what to check out.

There is Canada's Wonderland Amusement park (north of the city, accessable by public transportation):

    http://www.canadaswonderland.com

    The Toronto Zoo:

    http://www.torontozoo.com

You can check out the following sites for more info:

http://www.toronto.com -- all kinds of info about the city here

http://www.gaytoronto.com -- note that much of the site is out of date, so unless it has an active link, the establishment may not still be around

http://www.nowtoronto.com -- one of Toronto's free weekly newspapers, with up-to-date events listings

http://www.eyeweekly.com -- the other free weekly newspaper

    http://www.xtra.ca -- Toronto's free bi-weekly gay newspaper

http://www.fabmagazine.com -- the self-proclaimed "Gay Scene Magazine" (copies are free throughout the city)

    Hope this helps!!

Oh I now just discovered that as of this week, Eye Weekly is no more -- instead it has been "replace" (renamed) The Grid:

Ooh, I will be sure to check out some of the nightlife. I've also heard of Fly nightclub. is it any good?

what are the laws in terms of alcohol + ID? Here in BC, it's 2 pieces of ID. is it the same in Toronto?

It's pretty cold in Toronto during this time I wouldn't go to the Toronto Islands it's freeeezing right now near the lake. I usually stick to the malls or go to clubs during the winter. You can also go the CN Tower if you haven't gone or anything but I would keep it in doors. If you do want to be out than just bring a really warm winter jacket, hat , scarf, warm boots and mitts and you should be OK depending on the temp since sometimes it varies.

Toronto is a great city with so much to see and do. I haven't been up there in almost 15 years and I am sure the city has changed tremendously. But all my previous visits to Toronto have been very enjoyable and memorable.

He's going to Toronto in late May. Not the Yukon in early January. The weather should be fine (unless it rains or is overcast)...likely hovering around the 20 degree C range about 68 degrees F.
