The worst workout session I've ever had.

So I have been hitting the gym quite diligently these past couple years, but today I had the shortest workout session I have ever had. This week I went to the gym on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, but today's workout lasted only 20 minutes. I don't know but I just didn't have near enough of the motivation to work my ass off. For the first time I can say that I in fact quit-- I flat out quit. When I got home I felt bad and wondered if this is the start of the detraction of my motivation.

Anyone ever felt like this? how do you get over those gym slumps and come back with vengence?

You accept that sometimes you're going to have a shitty workout and go back tomorrow. icon_wink.gif

Yeah, you're in good shape. You obviously work out enough that you can take a break from it. Maybe even take a few days or a week off. When you get back to it you will be more ready to go.

Maybe try changing your routine if you haven't already? I get bored very easily so I make sure I mix up my routines and the way that I do them...

    or

Maybe your body is telling you to have a bit of a rest? A couple of weeks off won't kill you! icon_biggrin.gif

It happens, more so in the beginning. I remember when I first started out I had no idea how i was ever going to manage to go 3...or FOUR times a week to the gym. Sometimes I wouldn't go once in a couple weeks. Now I'm like fuck you gym you close on Sundays and I can only go 6 >:/

This entire week is a nightmare for me. My quads won't recover fast enough. I labor through every workout. Today, I did not complete my front squats with weights that I can normally ace without any effort.

So, I did 30 muscle ups for time instead -- this does not involve lower body at all. I was glad I did it as it made me feel better and productive ...

    Rest well... and recover....

    Cheers

i wouldn't trip about it until the second or third workout... if you quit then take a week break.

Sometimes you just need to take a day off. I always find if I have a shitty workout its because I'm tired. Then I rest up for a day and go back and have a SICK workout. We all have the occasional shitty workout, and we all need to take the time to rest up.

It just sounds like you are tired. I'd take 3-4 days off and get plenty of sleep.

I have those days every once in awhile, usually indicates I'm just plain tuckered out, either physically or mentally. Let it be what it is and continue on. Don't fret.

Alright I'll be honest guys. I know I shouldn't workout for the sole reason to impress anyone, but this upcoming weekend i'll be attending the first big pool party of the season. I suppose I just wanted to make sure everything was set for me to attend. You guys are right though I over-worked myself. That is my own fault...

Uh, if you wear that black pair of trunks with the yellow stripe in your pics, I don't think you'll have any problem. You look great. Just saying . . . . as a top. icon_biggrin.gif

With my intense work schedule, I have to grab work outs at odd hours sometimes. My worst work out was once when I tried to hit the gym before sun up. I could have fallen asleep on the bench press. I was worthless that morning. I'm much better off working out at night - even late at night, if I have to - than I am in the mornings.
