I go with "Alone" by Carrie Underwood, and this song made me miss Simon Cowell. he was right on as usual.

I'm not the biggest Idol fan - but I remember this from season 3 - it starts out a little slow, but at around 50 seconds in, it really blew me away

I think Idol is tired. This year it will crank out another generic winner, and in six months we won't know/care who won.

The Voice is killer competition. Better singers, just like Idol in the early days.

With the X Factor on the way...too many singing shows.

I have to agree though. I loved when Heart did Alone, and in this performance, Ms. Underwood more than did it justice.

My favourite is Christina Christian's 'ain't no sunshine' from season 1. Very simple arrangement with no vocal acrobatics, but her voice sounded amazing on it.

Tamyra Gray's 'house is not a home' from the same season was also a killer.

Wow ! I'm surprised people still remember some of these performances

    I have so many

    but already mentioned:

    Fantasia's 'Summertime'

I loved a couple of Clay's: "Solitaire," "To Love Somebody"

Jordin Sparks: "I who have nothing"

    Haley: "Benny and the Jets"

I'm surprised someone mentioned Christina Christian's "Ain't no sunshine" because that was one of my favorites as well

Latoya: "Someone saved my life tonight," "All by myself"

    Melinda Doolittle: "My Funny Valentine"

This one's also one of my faves. I was sad when she got booted off that time but of course she's gone a long, long way since.
