I know there are like a million songs song from a guy or girl singing about you boyfriend or girlfriend. I'm wondering if there is any songs, slow, punk, R&B, Pop WHATEVER song by a guy about another guy, or two girls whatever? Gay music made by gays for gays. I know about Tatu and This one song called I do both Jay and Jane, but there has to be a lot more out there, I know there has to be.

Check Rufus Wainwright, especially his new album.
Tulsa is about the lead singer of the Killers. Strange...he's married...

Franz Ferdinand has a song called Michael about making out with a dude.

Jay Brannan is a pretty good folk singer who has songs about his past boyfriends.

Magdalen Hsu-Li, I think, has a song about a past girlfriend but I don't think it was released in the US. Ive never heard it, only heard about it.

Tori Amos has hit a few lesbien notes in her music but nothing that blatantly came out and said anything, I think she was just making a point anyways.

Ani DiFranco, if it isnt obvious, has a lot of songs about girls,
Same with Melissa Ferrick... who is awesome live, by the way.

Slightly off topic, There is a line in a Missy Elliot song where she sais "freak him, freak her, whatever your choice." I thought that was cool.

I read about a gay reggae group but cant for the life of me remember their name.

There are plenty of Lesbian artists that I know of including Peaches, Le Tigre, and even the group Gravy Train!!!! -- though these are all more electronica type music, though highly recommended. I heard Tegan and Sara are lesbians, but I may be wrong.

I like to pretend Sufjan Steven's is singing to men in his song "To Be Alone With You" (though I hear it's about his father).

But, Rufus Wainwright, as mentioned, is the perfect gay lyricist. I love "Peach Trees" when I'm feeling lonely on a hot summer day.

    Hope these help.

I'm in love with sufjan, and pretty sure he is gay, just because I want it to be so. But check out the song "The Predatory Wasp of Palisades is out to get us" It is far more overtly gay than "To be alone with you," which is obviously about Jesus.

Sufjan is the most amazing artist out there...

ugh, you could always check out PanzyDivision. They are basically only good for a laugh because of lyrics like this, from their seminal hit "Homo Christmas"

    "Licking Nipples
    Licking Nuts
    Sticking Candy Canes
    Up Each Other's Butts"

It's less of a song and more pure poetry.

Bronski Beat! Jimmy Somerville! Erasure!Andy Bell.

These groups/frontmen are so important and essential. They have made so many great songs for gay men.

There's also Dead or Alive with frontman Pete Burns. However, I'm not sure what Pete is exactly these days. I STILL LOVE HIM!

Without a doubt "He was a friend of mine" by Willie Nelson from the movie Brokeback Mountain. I am really sure the song is dedicated to gay . I am not sure who write it, or he/she is gay. Anyway the song really touch me. It just so incredibly beautiful and emotional about tragic love between Ennis and Jack. The first time I heard it, I nearly shed a tears. Just like the first time I see the movie.

    Really tongue in cheek song

    Gay bar-Electric Six

there was a song on the south park album called the homo rainbow, i think the chorus goes 'there are many colours in the homo rainbow, don't be afraid to let you colour shine'

there no heart melting songs, but hey, music is for everything.

Luther Vandross covered Roberta Flack's Killing Me Softly (With His Song).

Listen to the lyrics, it's pretty cool.

I think Morrisey had some songs as well as when he was with The Smiths

"Billy Bud" was deffinately one, it's about him having a male freind and the town not approving. or somthing to that effect.

Peaches also has some.. I think?!

Jay and Jane is sung by Larissa--it has a pretty cool beat. Didn't know what it was actually about until I had downloaded it and listened to the lyrics.

The Lemonheads had a song in the 90's called "Big Gay Heart". I understand that they're not gay, but it's a cool song nonetheless.

The Flirtations are an a cappella group that were openly gay. They appeared in the movie "Philadelphia". Here's a link to some info about Michael Callen, one of the singers:

Dirty Little secret by fallout boy, cames to my mind. It may not have been intended to come of as gay, but it sounds as tho he's talking/singing about a closeted relationship.
