This question goes to the guys who are close to achieving their fitness goals. What does it mean to eat as soon as you wake up?
I read some say within the hour of waking up! but most body building magazines say eat as soon as you wake up. I even see some picture illustrations where the guy have a shake right by his bed as soon as he wakes up! which makes no sense and looks like that shake would be nasty in the morning just left there.

For me why I am confused. By the time I wake up! do my morning routine, brush my teeth, put on my close- cook the breakfast.. and ready for my day . Its close to about an hour. I want to get the best benefits of breaking my fast and minimize break down of muscles. DO you guys really just wake up go to the fridge and drink up or do u at least brush your teeth first.

English is an amazing thing... BREAKFAST comes from two words Break and Fast ... you have to fire up the furnace and synapsis as well as cellular level functions depend on that furnace being stoked properly. I reach for a bottle of water I placed by the bed the night before first thing in the AM. Then I eat a large breakfast that is just around 1270 calories. Second meal of the day is smaller and dinner is the smallest.

    Just my take on it.

The key is figuring out what YOUR body needs.
For me, it likes a variety of options.
Some mornings I'll wake up and drink a glass of soy milk while waiting on coffee.
Other mornings I'll cook breakfast while waiting on coffee.
Other mornings I'll eat a few slices of lunch meat.
    Other mornings...well...you get the idea.

Just make sure to get something wholesome in you as soon as possible after waking up.

Also, eating a large (and healthy) meal just before bedtime can prevent morning hunger. In fact, sometimes I'll do that and wait till noon the next day before "breaking the fast."

This is where my love of PASTEURIZED egg whites comes in. Easy protein and I down a LOT of it in the morning. That with a good morning carb source, I'm good to go.

Btw, to OP, u a fan of Buck Angel? icon_smile.gif

Personally, I need to eat within the first ten min of waking up, if not the first 5. Beyond that, I dry-heave, which is so not pleasant! It has to be above 1000 calories too. It's what works for my body, and I know my brothers are the same way. A great breakfast is so necessary. It gives me energy throughout the day. Cheers!

I simply eat whenever I'm hungry. That's all there is to it. Sometimes I wake up starving and eat almost immediately. Other times I might not be so hungry and not eat until an hour or two after I wake up. It simply depends!

Although I've never understood people who wake up, brush their teeth, and then eat breakfast. Uh, wouldn't it make more sense to brush your after you eat breakfast?
