So, starting in Miami back in 2007 I ended up in Oregon is May 2011. Coming just close to 100,000 miles. Not actually distance but having gone back and forth in between states. Actual distance from Miami to Portland is something like 3,000 miles. I think I racked up the most miles in Texas and Florida. I did Florida from Jacksonville to Miami, then up thru Pensacola TWICE. Then I did Texas from Houston to Amarillo 2 times. I also came close to going to Seattle but unfortunately the funding just did not present itself. Things just weren't falling into place properly. I may try again later this year! In addition I was just tired, tired, tired! Been on the road now every afternoon for minimum 6 hours since Thursday. Even a full night's rest isn't enough to recharge.

I do have to say the West is an absolutely surreal, mystifying and vast place. It is so huge, and so deserted...and most erratic weather. But at the same time it's so interesting.

....It hasn't been peaches and cream all the time! Let's just say thank God for AAA Premier!

...I have to upload my own pics tomorrow, connection at this lodge is extremely slow icon_evil.gif

How many 7-11s did you stop at? And which state had the most fat people? Was it Texas?

Gosh...haven't seen those in awhile LOL. Mostly Chevrons, Shells and Conocos. I think Texas had the most fatties haha. Everything is bigger in Texas except for the penises. For that you go to New York!

I'm surprised that so many felt the need to 'pounce' on me when I talk about Denver but when I mentioned having crossed the US diagonally only 1 person cared to say anything about it.

Yet all the people talking trash just sat there looking like the green eyed monster and couldn't give me an ounce of credit...Not that I was looking for it, but damn why does only the critical statements get people's attention?

Now I bet had I gone into detail about which states sucked and which states didn't...it'd be all guns cocked, aimed and pointed at me.

What do you want credit for?

It's not like you're Christopher Columbus.

Don't be envious...OK maybe not credit, but questions which I'm sure many have. It's just I'd think so after all the replies about Denver from people who probably haven't even been here before. Just seems crazy. Just a comment though...

Oregon is a beautiful place. My best friend is from Portland and I love it there. I'm assuming there was rain when you were there, but everything is so green. Hope you enjoyed and are safe.

Look, you came at me all sarcastic...I didn't email you. And let's see, your profile says:

Tazo995 says in his profile:Usually I come attitude-free cause can't be bothered. I like palm trees and beaches. So not sure what I'm doing in Canada. My ultimate goal would be to move to a tropical island and catch a couple waves every morning before breakfast and smoke pot the rest of the day.

Now...you are not being an example of what you write by coming up in here with an attitude. Maybe lay off the pot and you'd not be grouchy.

Now...being that I have lived in Miami and Florida for 20 years, I can say that would be a lovely place for you to visit. I can recommend and show you around to the hot spots. It's very tropical.

So, take a chill pill...there's a life out there to do exactly what you'd wish for. But don't be jealous of people who have actually lived that life.

Too much rain lol. And I had to follow it all the way to Denver. It was raining in Portland for 2 days, then in did the same thing in Idaho, then Salt Lake was drenched, then it wasn't until finally today I was able to work on the car in sunny weather. That's over a week of non-stop rain!

Personally I couldn't live there. Especially when you spend 20 years in a state that says:

I'm not really a take a picture of everything kind of guy...Especially since I generally don't have anyone to take with me in them icon_neutral.gif but lately I have been compelled to take as many as I can. I used to have a decent Canon Elph camera...but let's just say never take an expensive camera in the club! This is a random photo. I believe this is a Mormon Church...but it looks like a castle. Edit: Actually nope I believe it's a courthouse.

    Welcome to Oregon!
Rain, yes, but no tornadoes, hurricanes, or even earthquakes.

If you don't like the willamette valley rain, go over the cascades to central Oregon...sunshine.

Or....up to timberline lodge snow, still, or crater lake national park, still buried in snow.

    Or...the City of Roses....Portland, Oregon.
Take advantage of portland's rose festival, in early June.

    You are currently an Oregonian.

Oh that is really cool...i enjoy pictures like that. I'm a total nerd about pictures haha.

and just speaking from experience, I don't think pot is the reason that guy is grouchy. Pot makes one very chill, not grumpy lol icon_cool.gif

LOL, no unfortunately I am no longer there. It was just a really quick visit for 2 days. Truth be told I wish I'd gone to Seattle instead icon_razz.gif But the plan was to go to Portland and ride the coast. But, plans just weren't falling together so it ended up being more of a site seeing trip than anything.

Just to clarify - you actually visited things, stayed placed and experienced life right? Not just driving from A to B to C back to B... and staying in your car or at work?

Thats correct! But i guess not in his case....

Yeah I have but I generally take the most pics while driving. Even when I went to the Alamo in Texas I didn't even bring my camera with me. I just collected the post cards because the pics look better than I can take LOL. I haven't gotten to see all there is to see in each place, but the places I took pics of I've gone to more than 2 times (except Oregon).

Those pics were of Tampa, (lived there), Miami (lived there too), Houston (been there 4-5 times), Utah/Colorado (live here and been there 3 times). So it's not like I'm just flying by in a spaceship taking satellite images of these towns icon_rolleyes.gif Hell, people fly to cities all over the world for years for work purposed and don't get to see much. Just the very fact of driving let's you experience a bit more.

Hey, you went right by my house to take that pic on hwy 30. SHould have stopped for a beer or a ride. If you took that pic this afternoon, you'd see the sail of my boat down on the river.
