http://www.jsonline.com/news/statepolitics/121721234.html - what I think is remarkable is that one particularly vile set of threats was made by a teacher who was ultimately charged.

More than 100 pages of public records released Thursday reveal again how high emotion, bad judgment and anti-social media combined in February to generate a nationwide investigation of threats against Gov. Scott Walker and lawmakers on both sides of his budget-repair bill.

Emails, Twitter streams, Facebook and Craigslist postings, phone calls and even a few notes sent by U.S. mail ranged from overt threats of violence to promises of political retaliation to benign-sounding requests for investigations of lawmakers' actions. A surprising number of even the most vile messages came from readily-identifiable senders.

The vast majority of about 90 matters referred to the state authorities were determined to present "no criminal nexus or viable threat," but about a dozen remain open as cases with the Division of Criminal Investigation, according to Assistant Attorney General Kevin Potter.

Of the 78 actions made public, about 30 were directed at Democrats, a few less at Walker and other Republicans, with the balance made up of vague or implied threats against no specific target, or concerns over demonstrators.

Yep so much for claims (including yours) that "civility" is what's needed in politics and caused the shooting of Giffords.

This has nothing to do with Giffords or civility and everything to do with the Right's continue smear campaign against unions and the Left.

I didn't see any Democrats releasing similar records during the health care debates and town halls, though I'm positive they would have been as vile if not more so.

Remember, President Obama has received more threats annually than any other president in the history of the US. Yet, we never hear him whining about it.

Right. Smear campaign? Yep just because there are some who point to the hypocrisy of modern day thuggish unions and their leftwing supporters? Yes despite the fact you attempt to point out Obama's death threats as often as possible, no whining at all.

Nonetheless, fortunately it hasn't mattered - the threats have only emboldened lawmakers it seems such that even Massachusetts would take away collective bargaining rights from unions. You fantasize that tea partiers or conservatives are more violent and less civil than their counterparts on the left and yet, when it comes to actual evidence you dismiss anything that doesn't fit your world view particularly the hypocrisy of those you support.

I do rather superficially empathize for you at the moment given how liberalism and spending have lost its momentum and as the political landscape in the US moves to the right. As I've noted, what is remarkable in the shift is not so much at the national levels, but it's at the local levels where Tea Party supporters continue to make significant gains at the state local even in school boards. In a way, the violent threats given the threat to the entitled way of life of public union members is no surprise at all. It is useful however to document their vile hypocrisy.

LOL. Do you even read the news up there in Canada.

Walker and his benefactors - the Koch brothers - have been engaged in quite the smear campaign against unions since he took office. A particularly dishonest smear campaign because he was finally forced to admit that collective bargaining had nothing to do with the the WI budget.

And you're part of that campaign since you have yet to write a post here that mentions unions without including the word "thug" or "Thuggish", even when talking about middle-aged female Kindergarten teachers. Oooh, that's a scary bunch, there. icon_lol.gif

In terms of violence both rhetorical and physical, your self-delusional doesn't match the facts. Tell me when the Left did any of the following:

    * Showed up at a presidential address with semi-automatic weapons
    * Sent activists into a state board of elections office to riot and stop the counting of votes
    * Threatened to call in the National Guard against school teachers peacefully protesting

As for the country moving away from liberalism and spending, you might want to look at minor details like polls, the various recall actions, and Obama's continually increasing approval ratings. Oh, and how the Republicans can't throw Paul Ryan under the bus often enough. icon_lol.gif

You don't mean this chronic critic and self-appointed specialist on the US political system doesn't even LIVE here? Well that gives him a lot of credibility, doesn't it? icon_razz.gif
