It's stunts like these that make me want to cringe. I know the guy throwing glitter thought he was making some kind of statement to help the gay community, but I think stuff like this does more harm than good. Sure, it can get a chuckle from many of us, but what it mostly does is makes gays look like a bunch of glitter-throwing lunatics.

At first I agreed with you - until I read that this book signing was taking place as part of The Minnesota Family Council & Institute Annual Dinner - an organization that was a prime supporter of a marriage inequality amendment that would enshrine discrimination in Minnesota's state constitution.

The protester did succeed in drawing national attention to an important local issue - and in showing how even a "thoughtful" Republican candidate is enmeshed with the anti-gay bigots.

    So I've changed my mind.

It also shows that gays have more balls than we're given credit for.

You think it takes balls to throw glitter on someone like some lunatic? Really?!?! Sorry, it's lame, it makes gays look bad, and there are so many other ways to make the same point in a mature and dignified manner that doesn't reflect badly on the rest of us.
