What a total lying spin on the actual situation. The article's title is just looking for shock value and it's not accurate.

Let me spell it out for you (I posted this in another thread):

    1) The WI Supreme court has not been asked to rule yet as to whether or not the actions of Doyle, and the Democratic legislature in 2009, were in conflict with the 2006 ban on gay marriage and what that all entails as far as restrictions or rights for registered domestic partners.

    2) Wisconsin has yet to pass any law, since the very vague law in 2009, clarifying any rights / rules that pertain to domestic partnerships - so much remains to be debated in the courts.

    3) It is Walker and Van Hollen's opinion that the defense of the domestic partnership law is unconstitutional, and thus they have the right to do what they see is fit to uphold items that are constitutional or not... just as Obama views the defense of marriage act at the federal level to be unconstitutional and has decided (with eric holder) to avoid defense of the law. But of course, it is quite clear that liberals will (hypocritically) only hold republicans accountable for identical actions taken by members of both parties

    4) This issue will be solved by the courts within the next year or two, so whatever action or inaction taken now is ultimately going to be decided soon enough - without legislative action.

Botom line: do you want GLBT couples to have hospital visitation rights or not? Yes or no?

And does Governor Walker of Wisconsin oppose such rights? Yes or no?

And do you support voting for Republicans nationally who overwhelmingly endorse this position? Yes or no?

Actually, the bottom line is that you aren't willing to hold democrats, such as Barack Obama, up to the same standards as Republicans such as Walker on a pretty much identical matter. Yet, it is quite palpable that you are unwilling to even acknowledge this hypocrisy.

And what a dumb question, of course I want gays to have hospital visitation rights and all equal rights including marriage.

    Yes or No?

Does Obama President of the United States oppose such rights? Yes or No?

And do you support voting for a President who, along with his cabinet, endorse this position? Yes or No?

...So if you were trying to be cool, you look like a fool.

You didn't answer my question, not surprisingly.

President Obama came down here to Miami to announce a change he ordered to HHS to require hospitals to allow GLBT couples access to their partners. Following a notorious case where a lesbian couple was separated, causing the partner to die alone, not even with their children at her side.

Republicans in Congress are still trying to reverse that Executive Order to HHS, their goal being that this tragedy will happen again to GLBT. Do you support that Republican action? Or do do support GLBT couples having access to their partners in hospitals?

I see you've subsequently posted something, so I'm editing this. But I still have a question -- do you support Republicans who want to deny gay hospital visitation rights?

You claim that YOU support those rights, yet you support those who are trying to legislate against them. Difficult for me to reconcile your position. Please explain.

You have a point: Barack Obama did stop defending the DOMA.

However this is not an identical matter in the least!

Obama decided to stop supporting an act that affirmed rights to some individuals but denied them to others.

Walker is deciding that he does not want to support an act that is meant to confer equal rights on some individuals who, without the act, do not have them.

Morally, their actions are not even in the same ballpark!

Thank you for pointing out this crucial difference succinctly. There's harm intended in the WI Governor's case, preventing harm in the President's/Holder's actions.

I hope this is just a liberal spin and not really the case. It is awful that anyone would want to rescind Hospital Visitation for Gay Couples. I wouldn't support that in any way.

ummm... do I need to repeat to the Republicans here, that Obama came down here to Miami to announce in person that he was directing HHS to withhold Federal funds from hospitals that did not grant visitation rights to GLBT partners?

Now naturally Republicans in Congress are trying to block this Executive Order. Members of Congress that about a half-dozen RJ members here support.

I'm kinda puzzled by this disparity. RJ guys who claim to be pro-gay but who support positions and politicians who are strongly anti-gay.

And I'm not just talking about gay marriage, but even simple hospital visitation rights. Some guys here say they endorse hospital visitations, but they support Republican lawmakers who want to block those rights. HUH??? Isn't that a contradiction?

I'd like to hear how they can want the one, but support the other.

Governor Walker's action against gay people is one of the most hateful things I've every heard of. When someone is hospitalized, sick or dying, it's time to PUT ASIDE THE BIGOTRY and give them the tiniest shred of dignity and compassion. Really sickening and shameful.

On the bright side, I do think the people of Wisconsin are so much better than this kind of filth.. they will kick his bigoted ass out of office after one term. Then he can cash in with a high-paying job on Fox News, like Sarah Palin is doing.

    Thank you Art Deco.

Deanne or whoever you are :get a life.

The bottom line is that people support politicians or political parties because of their views on economics.

The reason why there are so many Gay republicans who don't see the contradiction is that they are Republican because it is in their best economic interest to be a Republican.

They are usually affluent or are affluent wannabees and prefer to pay less taxes and want everyone to fend for themselves.

When confronted with social issues that clearly show that republicans are anti-gay they find ways to argue and justify the position of their party because if they have to choose between their right to keep as much money as possible and/or have equal rights and equal protection under the law they choose their pocket book every time.

So there is no real reason to engage Gay Republicans on these issues because they have already made their choice and logic or reason will not change the fact.

    "It's the Economy stupid."

lol, so if you saw liberals plunging to their deaths over a cliff (at least so you'd think) you'd think republicans should do it too?
Why should republicans take identical actions as you say? Aren't they supposed to be BETTER?

    Good grief.

PS not only that, you gloss over WHAT republicans are doing 'identically'. It's not the same at all. Walker wants to remove YOUR right to see your man in hospital and attend to him. Do you think that little of your partner? Last I checked, your President wanted you to be able to see and assist your loved one.

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/04/15/AR2010041505502.html

So now let's compare the SAME TWO actions over the same issue, rather than use another, shall we?
