Angela Basset turned down the role of Storm in the X Men films in my opinion she would have been the right person for that role because she has played some good roles in films. Tina Turner ( Whats Love Got To Do With It 1993) Katherine Jackson (The Jacksons 1992 TV Film) Betty Shabazz ( Malcom X) and recently the mother of rapper Biggie Smalls Voletta in Notorious these roles in particular have garnered her critical acclaim from critics and awards and nominations. The role of Storm is to be portrayed by someone strong, level-headed, wise, and tough and in the films she was played by Halle Berry who was mild mannered and didn't give a convincing performance in the movies. I really felt Angela should have token the role.

I think Thandie Newton would have been a good Storm.

True, Bassett would have worked imo. Halle Berry was cute looking but not bad-ass, sufficiently dramatised, regal or strong charactered enough to do the animated Storm character any justice.

    Bitch couldn't even fly.

And don't get me started on Rogue (an OK actress, sure, but bad script writing- why the fuck did she not have a deep-south accent or the powers the animated character absorbed from Miss Marvel? They should have just given her character a new name if they couldn't afford the CGI).... EPIC FAILURE.

Still, no use flapping gums over it now.

Miss Marvel didn't exist in the movie world for Rogue to have absorbed her powers. Prior to her doing that, she was a villain and part of Mystique's Brotherhood. The whole movie was just a mess. Famke Jansen would have been a better Mystique, she was an awful Jean Grey.

I just can't wait for the movie though and I agree with all that has been said above.

A lot of the X-Men mythology didn't exist in the movie world version, some for good reason, but having Rogue without her powers, accent or any of her charm was ridiculous. The only thing that made a quasi-connection to the original was the white streak of hair. They didn't have to explain all of the history of her character in the first film(s) in order to justify keeping her closer to the animated character, imo. It could have been mentioned in passing or maybe even leave it altogether for a potential prequel or spin-off like the Wolverine movie/s.

I agree that the Jean Grey character was pretty lame until she became the Dark Phoenix, but so was the animated character too, so I can't personally fault Famke Janssen on that one (the real back-story for the phoenix is one I can totally understand and respect the writers/director for not including in this case, aliens and guardian crystal spirits of the universe would defo be pushing it here lol) .

Rogue's original powers were the absorbing abilities and not being able to control them. The only real reason she was there was to act as the conduit for Magento's machine.

The character they should have used was Kitty Pride and made a different plan for Magneto.

I know what her original power was, but I'm just saying that wasn't what made her an interesting character on the animated series, it was her acquired powers, sexy body, and southern-bell charm, which without she wouldn't have been interesting enough to become an integral character in the x- men animated series, imo.

True, Kitty would have been a better choice than Rogue for Magneto's machine, but only slightly as her power of passing through solid matter would have made it extremely difficult for her capture. Maybe if they brought in Jubilee as a character in the movies, she would have been ideal for it.

I'm a fan of the comic books, not really the animated.

I would have preferred a movie with Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Beast, Angel and Iceman. But Wolverine is the biggest breakout character, so I understand they needed to feature him. I just wish they hadn't cherry picked through the history and came up with such a mis-mash.

    Preach it.

It just came across as really rushed, lazy and haphazard in the way it was all put together, character/mythology wise. Definitely corporate Hollywood executives butchering good material with only $'s as an objective, as opposed to real art in movie making.

In addition to your list (sans Miss Marvel, just because, imo, she didn't really have much of a role in the animated series other than being the source of rogues new powers), I would have liked to have seen Morph, Jubilee and also the Morlocks.
