It will be a sad day if libraries really ever do go away. I understand there is the internet, but as long as all the books are not put online for everyone to have free access to; there will still be a need for libraries I think.

A lot of recent attention here has been on a school that has turned its library into a massive common data centre with all the books formerly in the library strategically distributed among all the classrooms based on subject matter (eg. science books in throughout the science dept, literature in the English department's classrooms etc - putting a focussed selection books at constant hand on a day to day basis in the subject at hand instead of everyone being able to access the entire collection for one hour a week in a single location.

The main library has been turned into a common learning hub and research centre - very active - allowed to be boisterous and energised by people working in groups.

It is being watched with great interest
