yeah you are never going to see success if you set unhealthy goals.

you've lost 5 pounds and thats great!!!

your next goal should be to make it 10 pounds, just start small. If you set yourself up with a workout regimen, take your initial plans and cut them in half for the first few weeks. I see people in my classes on a daily basis that claim they are going balls to the wall and will be at every class I teach every morning all week...then I never see them again. Start slow, and keep your goals in mind.

Drink water often, even when you aren't necessarily thirsty. Keeping hydrated helps you feel fuller longer and fights back cravings. Often times we think we are hungry but really we're just thirsty. Weird body mechanism.
(other tip: chug at least 16 ounces of water first thing when you wake up, you want to speed up your metabolism? that'll help)

Lastly, you have resources here on rj to guide you towards healthy eating...USE THEM! I used to be overweight, I know it is probably one of the most difficult things you will do in your life, but you can lose the weight.

    GOOD LUCK!

Well i chose 120 because my physician has been telling me 120 is where is should be. I just want a nice body... Kinda tired of being invisible lol. But yeah im starting out slow.... i am walking more and trying to stay away from any bad food. I did not know water helped so much. I am cutting soda out little by little and drinking it less than 2x a week.... considering i had at least one a day= fantastic icon_smile.gif
thanks for the info guys... are there any foods that help boost metabolism?

Losing weight is hard but a lot of determination can take you a long way! Burn more than what you eat through a regular exercise routine,(Walking,Swimming, and Running) drink plenty of water, and watch what you eat.At the same time you have to control your diet by avoiding oily, greasy foods.

    lose fat

Congrats on the weight loss. It is hard at times, when I started at the gym in Dec 2010 I was 325, now at 266, I would really love to get to 225. Keep up the good work.

I recommend getting into tris and getting on a training regimen. I went from 208 to 156 in the span of about 15 month (that was 25% of my body mass). And a year later I'm holding in the mid 150s. And I pretty much eat whatever I want, although I tend to eat quite healthy. But I exercise 6 days a week 2-4 hrs per day. Cardial junkie at this point.

    Congrats on your weight loss!

A lot of the changes start with your mindset! You have to really commit to fitness and stay focused!

Remember nutrition is VERY important! You want to stay with as much real whole foods as possible! Start with maybe a 5 day challenge of eating NO processed foods! Lots of greens and plenty of water. Start to crowd out unhealthy food with a healthier version. Gradual changes are the best and last the longest!

Get plenty of sleep, concentrate of compound movements at the gym, and look into High Intensity Interval Training for cardio.

Dude....Your goal of 120...you'll be a walking stick...Set reasonable weight lose goals...You lost 5 pounds...Your next goal should be to lose 10 more....Break up your goals so they remain achievable ...Second don't see foods like bread..chocolate.. as bad or evil....Overeating those foods should be more of a concern...Between meals keep sugarless gum and mints around...Lastly...DRINK WATER a lot of it....Sometimes we believe we're hungry in reality we're dehydrated....Much luck

Lots of good advice above me, and I suggest taking Vitamin B12 to give you a little more energy. If you find something in capsules, it will be easier to digest than a hard, compact tablet. It also enters the bloodstream faster.

Congrats! The fact that you're losing slowly will allow your skin to shrink naturally without causing stretch marks.

    You're a smart man. icon_biggrin.gif

It will also make maintenance after your goal easier.

    Hello Everyone!
I am so sorry i have not updated in a loonmgg time. But i am mostly ashamed that i gained 10 lbs and am bak at 210 lbs. But it is different than last time i was at 210. My pants still fit but my love handles are growing. i have boobs again but they are harder so = muscle(pecs)? = yay? lol.
The main reason i gained is because i got in relationship and maybe i thought i was safe and didnt have to look good anymore? but i dont want to go back to my fat self. so i decided to post here. The times i did i felt motivated not to seem like a liar and a flake. so as of monday i will begin my regimen once more and regain my honor! icon_smile.gif. thank you everyone for listening.

You have little to no stretch marks because you stopped working toward your goal (ref: your previous post).

You're justifying it by having a boyfriend.

Boyfriend are notorious for being politically correct about body shape, when they're actually wishing you could be the hot guy your genetics wanted you to be till cupcakes and pastries got in the way.

Ignoring physical and aesthetic effects, if you want to live healthy and have a long active life with your boyfriend, get in shape. Sure you may get killed doing some extreme sport in 20-30 years; but dying in a nursing home in 10-20 years is way worse.
