Yesterday I was busy at home with lots of things to do and went out to run errands and go swimming but I realized that I had not spoken a word to anybody all day.

But all day I was talking to myself. Reading out loud. Studying out loud. Cursing out loud . Thinking out loud. Having pretend conversations with people I know.

Usually, I'm interacting and commuicating with lots of people every day. Maybe I should put the local mental health clinic on speed dial.

    Do you talk to yourself?

Well.......not only is is right it's also very effective. Hearing yourself express something can help you make a good decision.

I talk to myself often. The dog just thinks that I am talking to her all the time.

Most people who live alone (and work solo) talk to themselves including myself. Now when my dogs and cats start talking back then is when I will start worrying and turn myself over for a 90 day evaluation.

i do this all the time. i find that it helps me to verbalize certain thoughts in order to work through them. i've found that the more senses that are involved, the more effectively my mind processes them.

but i seem to be a bit odd that way.

    meh.

I do this all the time, and sometimes at work haha.

There is some evidence in cognitive research that verbalizing our thoughts can help organize them better and it stands to reason that if you are an auditory learner (I am), then speaking out loud really helps.

Sometimes I can get pretty incensed if someone upsets me and it really helps me to talk out my thoughts and it's much better than finding them and saying something I might regret later ;)

If you want a mental health take on this, talking to yourself does not lead to hallucinations. Talking to yourself actually starts the opposite way.

Whenever people catch me talking to myself, I admit and then say "nobody has said answered back yet!"
