Democrat Hochul Wins In Bellwether New York 26th Congressional Race
Democratic challenger Kathy Hochul has been declared the winner in the closely watched special election in New York's 26th Congressional District. The election in the strongly Republican district is being held to replace former Rep. Chris Lee after he resigned over pictures of him shirtless on Craigslist.

The phrase is bellwether in fact.

Shepherds used to put bells around the necks of castrated rams [wethers] in order to hear where which direction the herd was moving.

It has nothing to do with the weather.

Looks like the Tea Party is sucking the Republicans dry of their votes.
