    Cat.jpg

A 20th-century artist, Louis Wain, who was fascinated by cats, painted these pictures over a period of time in which he developed schizophrenia. The pictures mark progressive stages in the illness and exemplify what it does to the victim's perception.

These are pretty much the most amazing paintings in the world to me. I'm not really into paintings but I feel a strong connection to these.

    Though it's a painting/cut-out artwork.

Because Jimi Hendrix was a musical genius. The painting has a lot of life to it, and is definitely appealing to the eye for color.jimi_hendrix_painting_copy.JPG

Great post. The problem is narrowing it down to only one, but I guess I would choose Delacroix's - Medea

    medea.jpg

or if we include sculpture then I would choose Rodin's - The Age of Bronze

Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh

The Starry Night (Dutch: De sterrennacht) is a painting by Dutch post-impressionist artist Vincent van Gogh. The painting depicts the view outside his sanitarium room window at night, although it was painted from memory during the day. Since 1941 it has been in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. Reproduced often, the painting is widely hailed as his magnum opus.

Apropos of nothing, I like the thread says which painting you'd like to have displayed in your home, not which painting you'd like to own. The greatest masterpieces are a cultural legacy for the entire world, and truly belong to no one. In philosophical consideration anyway. In truth most of the greatest art in the world belongs to the Catholic Church =D
