Cam scams on RJ

  • Apr 11, 2008 12:38 AM GMT
Has anyone gotten instant messages from real people that have full convo's and everything. But then try to fight tooth and nail to get you to go on a website and put in credit card info claiming that it won't be billed if you just put in this "one code". I've already ran into two of these people. One's even on my hot list. Has anyone else ran into these people?

Do a Google search on his user name, and you can see his profile in Google's cache. Here's his pic:

My friend's girlfriend just moved here, and she works as a phone sex operator. She was telling me that you can apparently get paid good money for getting people to do exactly what it is you're doing. She also told me that companies have guys sit on the computer all day pretending to be girls and getting people to buy access to a webcam that they claim is theirs, when it's really a girl who works for the same company. Each person getting people to check out the webcam has their own personal link. Everytime someone buys access to the girls' web cam using their link, they get paid.

For some people, this is a full-time job. So that's probably why some guys get a little aggressive with you about it. Sorry that you keep getting hit with those.

Gaydar is plaqued with these "bots" which are automated programs which follow a script that go something along the lines of "hi, you look cool, wanna chat?" When you respond they come back with "I don't have any pix here but you can see me on www.hotcamteens".

    Hahahahaha. That is too funny.

Don't take this the wrong way but it serves you and anyone else right for thinking with your pants and getting caught up in a cam scam. LOL. Priceless.

To add insult to injury the guy is on your hotlist. RED FLAG. That just furthers the reason why most guys like knowing the person is verified and actually has pix not to mention why most people don't even like to cam inthe first place.

Soon as someone opens up with a "do you wanna cam" line as a greeting they are instantly iggied. No questions asked. Common sense helps out alot when people choice to use.

No thank god. The internet is a great thing overall, but it has brought out all the world's scam artists in full force.

I chatted with one of these one night, I don't think their bots, but people on the other end. This one was telling me he was staying in a hotel in my city. When I asked for the address of the hotel, he asked me what city i was in again, then told me the address. I shoulda lied. I did try and get him to tell me what was around him, but it was all listed on the hotels website. Finally he got so frustrated when I kept say I would just come over, I didn't need to see more pictures, he cute me off and deleted his profile.

Oh, yeah. I had one this morning.

There was one in a forum today.

    Some are pervs.
    Some are data miners.
    Some are just stupid people.
Some are just classless (check out craigslist sometime).

Remember, The Internet is a place where people don't behave well.

We find picture-stealers as well. We report them, too.

Some folks are blatant frauds. We had a kid from Denver a while back that was an absolute hoax, and had what appeared to be a major personality disorder, too.

I've been propositioned by some very strange folks. I've been on The Internet since 1988.

It's always strange how folks feel compelled to lash out at complete strangers. It's really amazing how immature and just plain messed up some folks are.

We also get haters, both on The Internet, and in real life. Jealous, resentful, spiteful, gay men, who lash out at others. We deal with them as best as we can.

    Data miners, Logey.

They get paid for each valid email they submit to the spam gangs.

Yeah, I think 2-3 of them now. The first one I made the mistake of giving my Yahoo Messenger name to, so he continued to pursue me there. But, I figured out he was full of crap pretty quickly. He claimed his cam only worked through this pay site of his, but wouldn't work through RJ. His story was full of holes. I have great credit, and I didn't get it being an idiot.

When the second guy came around I was more savvy.

Don't fall for this ploy. If they get hold of your credit card (or god forbid your debit card) number, call your bank and cancel it immediately. And report these guys to RJ ASAP.

I HATE pic thiefs. I don't even have a gay.com account but someone posted my pic there:

I emailed gay.com months ago, but I don't think they'll ever take it down.

Sorry it happened to you but that guy's got you done as a recreational drug user... it's fraudulent but it's pretty funny. (Until someone makes one of me, of course, ha ha)

Good luck getting that fake profile down.
