I know that some of you think this is kinda "pervy" or "creepy" expecially from you younger types that most are self consious. I belong to a small 24 hour gym and I hate wearing allot of clothes while working out expecially cardio like on the elicptple, etc. I just started doing cardio late at night like after 2am when usually nobody else is there. So I started doing it with just Speedos (brief Aussiebum) type on and only shoes and socks. I find that very comfortable and "cooler". Im not worryed about anybody walking in, since its a "leagel" peice of mens swimwear and im not "laying around" on the equipment. I realize its not the proper atmosphere to wear such clothing cosidering Ive seem women wearing shorts almost that small doing the same thing.
Anyhow....Any of you guys ever done that at a 24 hour gym late at night?

Im aware of the cameras, Ive been wearing my Kilts in there for the past year and im sure the cameras got a eyefull (underwear) of course.

Although speedos can be hot, I don't think that is the right atmospehere.....I bet the few people that are in there at that hour certainly give you weird looks. Does that gym at least have a pool?

I have never tried something like this as I tend to be considerably more reserved.

I never have, but I think it is absolutely fine for you to dress that way at the time. If management has an issue, they will let you know.

I know it sounds crazy but ive been getting undressed before & sometimes end up with just my underwear on & socks/shoes, walking around the house. It feels so dam good with my underwear & shoes on, I have no idea why. I start to get turned on big time.

Sometimes when I have running shorts on (the short onion skin type) while running the same thing happens. I feel so free, erotic & etc. It may just bring back my old stripping days in washington dc years ago, I dont know.

So needless to say if I tried this I would probably be sporting some major wood, lol.

I say as long as mngement doesnt have a problem with it then go for it. I definitely understand how comfortable & free it can feel.

I've done that while on business trips when I would visit the bathhouses for "relaxation." The gym equipment is never used, seems to be an afterthough. In fact, worked out naked quite a few times..... icon_eek.gif

    No that's inappropriate.

Aussiebum speedos especially since they are not made as sportswear... Aussiebum speedos are there to look hot.

Wear sportswear... that is the only appropriate wear for a gym

    yes weird and creepy,

If you wanted air you would wear at least workout shorts, the difference being negligible.

So then you are "that guy who works out at 2am in just his speedos" so you're just another wierdo in a wonderful weird world. Enjoy the attention.

Awkward. Maybe run shirtless (ideally with a very loose tank??) and with running shorts.... which are as good a speedo...

Is your gym a meat market? If not, your dress is inappropriate. You shouldnt need management - or anyone here - to tell you that.

You're a sexy guy. Being classy and respecting the folks around you will get you all the attention you need without exhibitionism. . Behave.

I'd be less worried with proper etiquette and more with proper safety. That seems a little too not protected.

Interesting that the OP mentioned age and self consciousness in appearance.

I couldn't even imagine myself going shirtless in any gyms I have belonged to, much less down to speedos or skivvies.

T-shirt, and knee-length basketball shorts are the rule of the day when I need to hit the free weights (then again, the current gym I make the most use of is a university gym that is quite fussy about the appearance and dress of it's clients)

But if I saw a hot guy down to his speedos in a gym late at night, you can bet my dirty mind wouldn't be entirely focused on my workout, lol...

Sounds like you're feeding your fetish rather than working out in clothes that make sense. Why else would you have to work out at 2am and then ask your fellow RJers if it's weird.

    Yeah, it's weird.

So now your only decision is: do you care?

You already know this is inappropriate. It's inappropriate for a straight guy to do this, and in my opinion it's even worse for a gay guy to do it. This kind of desperate attention seeking behavior just adds fuel to the fire in the way the world views gay people. Thanks for living up to the stereotype! Of course a lot of guys on here will tell you to wear what you want because gay men are so hypersensitive about being told what they can do that they have no boundaries anymore.

Do I think you have the right to wear what you want to the gym? Absolutely. But one would hope you could recognize that we have social standards and there are appropriate and inappropriate ways of dressing in public. Your desperate need of approval and validation are transparent. I'm guessing you'd like to wear a skirt and panties in public and a kilt and Speedos is your way of getting as close to that as you can. "Here's a pic of me in my plaid kilt IN THE GYM and here's a pic of me in my camouflage kilt IN THE GYM and here's a pic of me in my paisley kilt IN THE GYM." We get it.....you wear a kilt and Speedos to the gym! And now an entire thread about it. icon_rolleyes.gif In short, wear what you damn well please, but at least admit that you're in this to shock people. That's great but know that you will forever be talked about as "that guy...."

I really don't care what people wear to workout in - if you're comfortable in a speedo, fine. That said, I'm concerned about the safety for both you and others that comes with wearing a speedo.

With all that exposed skin in contact with sweaty exercise equipment it greatly increases your risk of contracting skin infections. It also increases the risk of you transferring those diseases to others should you have any or be an unknowing carrier of any such as Staph which might not affect you but which could be bad for someone else.

Secondly, what if somebody sees your hot body, gets distracted and drops their weights or trips or something! ;)

Maybe it's just me, but I would think even a hot guy working out in a gym in a speedo and tennis shoes would look kind of silly. It's just not appropriate gym wear. Granted, who's to judge what is appropriate? For that matter, why not just go to the mall or grocery store in your pajamas. icon_rolleyes.gif

You're only making an excuse to excuse your fetish here, simple as that. A speedo is not proper gym attire, that's why they usually post that sign as well as 'no street shoes"

Replace "gym" with "Empty Movie Theatre," or "24-Hour Grocery Store at 3am" and then evaluate the appropriateness of the attire.

Sidebar: I think, in general, out social standards for appropriate attire have devolved. You should see what our interns wear to the office! (heck, you should see what some co-workers wear!!)

Sure, scruff....let me just grab my favorite kilt and tank top and I will be right over in my Miata. Oh, you say it's 10 below zero outside? Cool! I'll make sure the top is down icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif
