I just saw a couple of vids on youtube about this sport and all I can say is - WOW ! I can't believe people actually can do this. For some who are unfamiliar with the sport is was used in Madonna's video for JUMP and in the last James Bond movie Casino Royale when Bond is chasing after the bad guy through the construction site and then at the consualate.

heck of a calorie burner LOL

I just left my job working at a Cirque Du Soleil show here in vegas. Several performers in the show were free runners from France. It was absolutely amazing and sometimes scary. You seriously think they're going to kill themselves. The adrenaline from doing that must be insane.

It's cooler when French and Saunders do it.

free running (parkour) is amazing. i used to take classes... and then I started punking out and got scared (didn't have health insurance back then), plus all the guys that taught it were really really hot and they made me nervous. It's so much fun though and an absolutely amazing workout. It's great cause with most workouts you don't really accomplish anything except lifting an object. With parkour you actually get somehwere and learn how to do something with your body. If you get the chance to take a class absolutely do it. I really miss it. ...Now I'm getting all nostalgic... screw it i'm going back to class!

I love parkour -- I'd love to see it become more popular.

Ditto. I'd love to learn too. It seems adventurous, fun, intense, a little dangerous (maybe a lot). Hot. And good for ya. If you don't require a 911 call.

Hell yeah...this stuff rocks, its nice to hear someone else mention it. Most people see it and have no idea how incredible this looks and feels. The rush is pretty intense, and if you are sane and do this only with proper training and practice you can do a lot with minimal risk of injury. However, the old DONT TRY THIS AT HOME applies. Someone attempting this stuff without the appropriate training and practice in falling, rolling, jumping, force transfer and such could really hurt themselves.

I hope this stuff continues to grow here, they are like modern ninjas.

I'm going to the Basics training session this Friday ( April 18 ) in LA. Anyone else want to go?

They were just here in Chicago at my facility with a demo of it. My first thought: I can't do that....anymore! But I was surprised at not only how structured it was, but how much explosive power is required.

Here's downloadable video of the LA training facility. Though I suspect they guys aren't beginners.

A friend of mine has started flipping around campus. I've had a bit of practice jumping over fences and furniture. It's fun, and I plan on doing much more of it.

Yeah, let us know how you go mate, I am really interested. I am looking into taking some classes myself and seeing if they have any in Melbourne, so once I get my fitness level up a bit more I will definately be taking some classes.
