I've been adding to the comments section. Yep, homophobia extremely alive and well in the U.S.

Did you actually read the article? The slurs were not made by anyone on CNN, but rather CNN is reporting slurs used very publicly by professional athletes.

"The NBA recently released a pubic service announcement featuring players Grant Hill and Jared Dudley about anti-gay language.

"Using gay to mean dumb or stupid... Not cool," Hill says in the commercial that is running during the playoff games.

"It is offensive to gay people," Dudley adds. "

Another reason for me to tip my hat to Grant Hill.

Why do you have less than 500 posts? Did you get banned, then come back?

I was wondering the same thing because everything this dude says is pure comedy gold! It's like making fun of the handicapped without the guilt!

maybe your grip on reality is not the same as others. I've been out since 5, thus no confusion or insecurity about ones sexuality. So my reality would be diffrent to a married guy coming out as bisexual as a 40 something.

I am unsure how I feel about this issue. As a competitive athlete for ten years, I trained and competed with some great guys who were totally straight. Some of them were homophobic, but the rest of them were just normal, good men who really weren't looking to judge or hate anyone. They would call something "gay", but if they were talking to someone who actually was gay, and he did something stupid, they would laugh and say "dude, that's really gay" and you could tell from their demeanor and their facial expressions that they were being jovial and irreverent with no hatred in their hearts.

80% of communication is non-verbal. On the one hand, I despise the words that pass along hate and judgement, but on the other hand I truly beleive that the majority of those who use those words really aren't meaning the context.

I think this is much more complex than it appears. As an example, one of the comments to the article says, "what about using the word "retarded"?" I have been called down by the parents of an autistic child for saying something was "retarded". Did I mean, "that thing over there reminds me of and gives me the same feeling as a developmentally disabled child?" - of course not, but it was offensive to them. I am glad they didn't get ANGRY at me, but rather gently and kindly pointed out that the struggles of children and adults with disabilities shouldn't be trivialized.

I am rambling. I am not sure I reached a conclusion, but do you get my point? I think this is a complicated issue.

From now on, I am going to say, "That is soooo Takai!"

Cleaning? Cleaning what? I just did an experiment, and deleted one of my posts, and my message count remained the same, it didn't decrease.

Takai as in ้ซ˜ใ„ expensive, or of high elevation?

Or takai as in ไป–็•Œ the afterlife?

Yeah miaimimasseur, I'll translate. TBA has still not figured out he got it wrong and this was not a story about CNN making a gay slur, but CNN reporting on gay slurs in professional sports.
