Now, I expected to view this and scoff. I've been a Mortal Kombat fan from wayy back, but I also prefer old school games. Every once in a while though, a new game comes along to make me wish I had the mentality to buy it.

This looks awesome. All of the interactive environment is viewtiful, but I never think fighting games need them, more important are the characters than the environment. Fighting game characters are like horror movie characters: if the creators don't flesh them out and make them personable, we can't feel empathy for them and cease to care when they are hacked to bits.

Here, my favorites are more alive than they've ever been. Look at reptile here, he's never been this menacing and other world. It was also a change to actually hear about conceptually what the creators "meant" to do with a game that's been resurrected more times than Shao Kahn.

You guys check this out and discuss, especially those who own this now. I won't be getting involved with buying new systems, so let me live through you momentarily. Talk about it.

I like this game a lot. The demo felt disappointing, but the game overdelivered.

...in what ways? I like the fluidity of the character's movements. In the clip I was paying extra attention to Johny Cage's movements which were so smooth, but strong....like a real man's (fans self).

    Lol GuiltyGear

Yeah, I watched a bunch of these videos awhile ago. Definitely pretty exciting. It's about time some kind of "x-ray" mode was incorporated what with Jet Li movies having had them for awhile, and it's cool they are special combos so you are rewarded visually for them.

Love the bruises, torn costumes, and bleeding that characters sustain during the fight as well; just adds to the realism. I think that was first introduced in MK vs DC Universe (kinda brutal seeing Superman get a black eye and little cuts in his tights)

Still have a crush on Johnny Cage, cocky bastard icon_smile.gif

The storyline for MK VS DC was lame although this one was fun to play. My favourates are Cage, Kano, Stryker, Kitana and Kabal but time to kill off some older characters

At times during the game play they looked like real people. I call that success. icon_surprised.gif
Mortal Kombat has come full circle. This movie that's being rumored could possibly be the pinnacle of video game to movie adaptations. I'm really holding out hope for that and The original Mortal Kombat deserves this wonderful game and deserves the movie to ...not...suck. Come to think of it though, the original MK movie is already at the top. Video game to movie adaptations are notoriously bad as you know. I recently saw Street Fighter: The Legend of Chunli...emoticon-bear-004.gif

    It was okay.

I swear they need more characters/unlockable characters. I think that's what most people love and gives the game more playback is unlockable things that aren't stupid koncept art. icon_razz.gif

Lol most worthless unlockables ever along with the babalitites that get boring after 1st time. Need more environmental fatalities and wished Goro was playable since he was a childhood favorate

It's a fun game, but some of the characters are seriously lacking like Sheeva, Baraka, Cyborg Sub Zero and Quan Chi to name a few. On the opposite side of the spectrum, characters like Shang Tsung, Raiden, Kung Lau and Night Wolf are beasts! The characters need to be balanced better to make this a deeper fighting game. The potential is definitely there. I think download patches in the future will be addressing some of the character balance issues.

Love Kitana she is my girl!!! lol.

The first game I played of Mortal Kombat was Mortal Kombat 2 in an arcade when I was young. The game was definitely a challenge for me as I had to get used to the slower fight play (I had the Tekken 3 mentality at the time since I was obsessed with that game lol).

Then I played Mortal Kombat Deception and I slightly got better with the controls but it was weird that it was more 3D based compared to it's 2D games. Then I played Armageddon, the story was boring to me and the gameplay got a little boring and repetitive.

Last year, my brother downloaded the demo of the latest Mortal Kombat and I tried it out and I thought the graphics were awesome and I was happy they mixed 3D with 2D, it really worked but I was disappointed with the few characters you got to use.

Then about 2 weeks ago, we rented the full game and let me tell you, I was BLOWN away. It was amazing! And very addicting haha. I actually played through story mode in one day because the story was so appealing (Fighting Shao Khan was tough though lol). And the characters looked awesome but I agree with JoeKingJay, some of the characters needed to be fleshed out more but despite that, the game definitely has potential. And it's nice because I found my signature character which is Cyrax as well as my other two which are Smoke, Sub-Zero, and Kitana. So yeah, the game was definitely awesome!
