What have you gotten from RJ?

Lets just say I first joined RJ, because it was not set up to be solely about picking up other men, it offers so much more, and it's the so much more, is why I joined, and for the people I love here is why I stay too.

Having witnessed first hand the devastation, fear hate and prejudice of the 1980's, during the Gay Plague era. Were I stood steadfast to a community I loved and fought for when so many fled and died. By the time the hysteria of the gay plague era was over, it was really time for me to move on, because of what I witnessed first hand. Gay and bi men carelessly infecting each other without a care for human life, has had an ever lasting effect on me, and I have lived out in the real world since. Lucky on my few short visits into the gay community I found my two husbands, until one was killed in a terrorist act in Moscow Russia, a few years ago.

So I have gotten from RJ, during my many years of living in the straight community, I have missed out on nothing, and that I can also be a proud conservative, Gold Card Gay, and there is nothing self loathing about that. I will die knowing I made the right choice, and regrets, I will have few. I know I am a good homosexual, and a strong one too; thanks RJ.

    Now you.......your turn.

Now this is one of those threads I have started, were I have had my say, and I will now let others talk and I will just read what is being said. But.....for you still being so young. Sometimes you get things out of life, that you are not able to see until some time latter, when you look back on it. So you may not yet see your rewards, or receive them. But I'm sure and I hope you will not leave with empty hands.

Now If you are here for hook ups thats fine, not my thing, and something I am yet to ever do. But I truly do hope you have also been to seek medical treatment, as there just are somethings you don't want to leave another to remember you by.

Some good insight from some of the more thoughtful members. I enjoy what the gay community is talking about.

I learned how to use the "ignore poster" button for the first time in my internet life and have enjoyed the experience a whole lot more than I ever thought I could. Made some friends and did some professional networking along the way (especially over the past two days) and I also have a date with my first RJer ... eeeeek scary.

This site is what you make of it. Don't want to get involved on the forums but want to read exercise stuff? Go for it. Want to post on the board and put yourself out there, even if you get flamed over it? Do it. Want to just read, never write? It works for some people.

Overall RJ is positive with some limited exceptions. So it does better than 99.997% of the internets. This is a much better "community" to wade into than the gay bars and Grindr.

Scary? I thought you are a psychologist with your big PhD. Why don't you try some of your psychobabble on yourself maybe it'll make your fears worse for your date.

I gotten a lot of good fitness and health advice. Mostly very useful. Definitely pushed me to go to the gym more often and hitting the weights harder. I am grateful of the people that I have met. They've been super nice to me so far...well, most of them anywayz icon_smile.gif
