Hello RJers. I've posted a few bits here and there but never actually said hello properly...so to make your acquaintance I've put on this wig and fixed myself all fancy...

so anyway, I just heard a discussion on the BBC here that men in the US often get asked if they are Gay or English.

Is that true? Have any of you American guys ever been asked this?

I actually am English. I have never been asked if that was the explanation for how I act before though.

There is definitely a stereotype that all English men are gay (they aren't obviously), but what I have found it that many English guys and Europeans in general hug, kiss, dance together, and are more touchy feelly than American men.

I recently started working for a bank. One of my co-workers is a "Brit". Well out of the blue one day he just walked over to me on break and started talking to me. We were on a 15 min break. What grabbed my attention was how attentive, courtesous, and involved he was into me and our conversation. On our way back to our desks, he took the time to open the door to the office where my desk is and then walked to his. This was real different. American guys that I've come across, specially straight, don't take the time to do this type of gestures for other guys. I've never met a "Brit" before tho, so this makes explains his behavior (I totally thought he might of been flirting with me or something icon_cry.gif lol)

I have honestly never come across that line of questioning. But I fins it funny. As a black Guy no one is gonna mistake me for anything besides black but people do guess I'm gay a lot.

Oh cool. You don't see a lot of those.although European guys who are black tend to be more kind and gentleman like. I enjoy them and they are friendlier than your average American straight gay Guy.

And you couldn't tell by his accent he wasn't from here?

Yea he is real cool. And no, my first day I saw him and all but didnt actually talk to him until about a week later. Seconds into our convo I did and I asked him and we went from there. But yea, very gentleman like which was different. Ive never had talk to a brit guy before
