Well, I just left the Red River Gorge after a back-to-back autumn/spring season there and don't plan on heading back for quite some time. The Columbus climbing crew is pretty friendly, though, and relatively active. There are always people heading down to the Red (2hrs) or the New (2hrs) from town. You're in one of the best cities in the country for sport and trad cragging!
If you wanna meet up with some other keen queer climbers, you should get off your duff and register for the HomoClimbtastic event in the New River Gorge this July if you haven't already--it's a great time with a wicked crew of people.
