There's been quite a few guys who have left the Forum here
and someone left because they said that they couldn't take the arguing and that some comments made his blood boil

    My question is...
Do you take some comments that guys say on here to heart?
Does it bother you when someone has a different point of view on a subject?
Or gets boisterous back at you?

For me that's what it's all about
    How do you guys feel?

Answer to your first question is yes.

Answer to second question is no, but I may try and change their mind icon_smile.gif

It depends on how boisterous. In my short time on here, I have had three guys, that I had great respect for give me shit in private over very innocent things I have done here, that had nothing to do with them. Two of those guys gave me shit over my efforts to get a guy back, that left the site and my refusal to condemn him. Another gave me shit over a thread I started, and my reasons for starting it.

Those thing did get to me a bit. I also tried to clear the air with two of those guys, and they just ignored my efforts.

If your going to be boisterous, be boisterous in the public forum and not the cowardly way in private.

That's how I feel about it.

It bothers me when I see attitudes on here that I think are damaging to the community. But there's nothing wrong with someone having a different opinion. I've learned a lot about how other people think.

As to the personal stuff, or the occasional nastiness, all I can say is--uhhhh--I have a real life, and this isn't it. I am always puzzled by someone who has to leave RJ because they've gotten upset or angry or embarrassed here.

    It's a forum, not a life.

That said, I've made some very good friends here whom I hope I'll keep even if RJ disappeared tomorrow.

When someone has a different opinion than me, I know they are scum. Let them delete their accounts and waste their lives away in a cubicle, playing solitaire while their boss isn't looking.

Why the hell would someone leave because of arguing? How else were threads with such topics as politics, religion, and abortion supposed to go? Fuck, we didn't put the abortion issue to bed, better leave for the gay, pro-life fitness forum site.

I think anyone who is disrespects or is obnoxious is scum
also if you can't be nice take your gay ass and go home
but that's the way of the world
If you let something like THIS get to you what's going to happen in real life?

Haha. Your facetiousness made my head hurt so early on a Saturday morning with only 5 hours of sleep under my belt.

I don't mind differences of opinion if they are conveyed with some level of maturity and civility. Some people though seemed to get carried away and swerve into the area of abuse.

I am also puzzled what the point was of posting a forum topic like abortion was on a website like this. It is bound to get raise peoples anger level. I can understand talking about relationships, safer sex, drug usage and the 2008 presidential election. They all have an impact on gay men's well-being, but abortion I am not so sure. If I have an opinion I will state it then leave it alone. I don't even care anymore if someone rudely disagrees with me.

And no I am not going to cancel my account, I am having to much fun, and my ego is pretty resilient, it can take a lot of slings and arrows.

As it's said, there is a difference between disagreeing and being disagreeable. A very small number of people on here are just cantankerous and provoking. They seem to get a kick out of agitating people.

I usually do my best to ignore those people.

But words on a page are the most dangerous things of all. Why do you think Hitler burnt all those books?

I get annoyed with some of the people on here, that's for sure but, sorry, I'm not leaving.

I never tire of people with different opinions.

    I get tired of whining.
I get tired of people who are constantly congratulating themselves for being so awesome and if God forbid , you ignore them, they will say it again..
I get tired of people who present concepts that aren't true or factual.
I get tired of the word "one"
I get tired of the same cliche answer over and over.
I get tired of people being so positive about everything.
    I get tired of repetition.

I have found it is much easier to attack an opinion you don't like instead of being introspective and realizing that perhaps there is something more to it.
These forums can't always feel like a party and I have found that those who only come to "play" sometimes end up feeling left out... so they post and post... and flip when they are ignored.

But I NEVER get tired of cute boys not wearing shirts and imaginary online boyfriends .. so that will always win out.

The great thing about asymchronous forums...if you dont like the thread, DONT READ IT!

If you find someone that you consistently don't like, DONT READ HIS STUFF!

    compromise.jpg

I never get angry at the posting. Idiots posting stupid points of view dont upset me.

    Remember...
    cluelessness.jpg

However, these threads can become addictive. Suck up all your time. Push out all other activities and relationships.

A person needs to know when to stop before they are too far gone and beyond....

    and then...

as for the abortion topic, it's just another topic about society. so, why not?

i was part of it for a while, and enjoyed reading what some people had to say. but some others didn't want a discussion and just wanted to repeat the exact same thing over, and over, and over in a much to emotional manner. it just got annoying.

Personally, I am deeply offended by any thread that isn't about my specially unique clever sexy fabulousness.

I may have to quit RJ.

In a huff, of course. Or a minute and a huff.

You could always metamorphose into jprichva78. That would be pretty damn nifty, and thus ensure continued fabulosity.

Personally, I feel a little like the Borg Queen when a voice goes silent on RJ. I cock my head to the side a bit, note the sudden empty space in my beloved collective and feel a pang of regret, then shrug my shoulders and continue with my rampant and wanton destruction.

    Stupid people annoy me.

RJ would be a MUCH better place if all posts went through me first for approval.

I'm only sticking around here cause I'm waiting for Caslon to drop his whole fake 4 year long-distance relationship with an imaginary firecat, and asks me to marry him.

I'm always right. Realize that and you can be a part of the RJ clique.

    I'm pretty.

when I see comments that really aggravate me, I try my best not to respond, and usually will try to find something more constructive in the thread, or I'll go to a different thread.

I think there's a reason we keep reading comments that piss us off, there's some level of satisfaction there, otherwise people wouldn't get into these angry, back and forth flame wars...

If I got totally sick of the cultural, political, social, etc threads ...I'd just stop reading them and stick to the fitness-oriented ones.
