So I've recently decided to lose weight... I've just loaded a pic which I'd like feedback on as to what I can improve. But my main question is I'm currently 65.0, and I'm looking to be 60... And i'm not calorie counting, just eating healthy... So how long do you think it'll take? Also, I'm 5'3, 18 and semi active... how many calories should i be aiming for a day?

Since you're not calorie counting, don't count days either. Just let it happen at its own pace. icon_wink.gif

Do you also have a before picture? This way we can know how far you've come. You might also want to get tested for bodyfat. This way it's easier to track progress. Otherwise you dunno if you are losing muscle or fat. It's not good if you're losing muscle bro.

I think that's a common mistake people do when losing weight. They are so eager to loose weight at the cost of muscle. Remember, fat isn't going to turn into muscle and vice versa. You must work each accordingly and they involve doing different things.

Sorry to shrink your letters, but damn that green is annoying icon_mad.gif

My old doctor told me that you really can only lose about half a kilo per week, so count on about three months if all goes well. Combine good diet and steady exercise like walking for 30-45 minutes every day with some moderate muscle building and think long term health. Good luck.

I think you've done amazingly, congratulations.

I think it's time though to abandon weight as your guide and start using bodyfat and the way you look as measure of your progress.

If you start to build muscle and lose fat at the same time you can find your weight loss will stop and you may even increase in weight.

Can we please only use the US system when talking about weight? icon_evil.gif I don't remember how to convert kilos into pounds.

And yeah, that "bell" shape does look kinda funny. icon_lol.gif I fight with that too. It's the most stubborn area of fat on the male body. If you haven't already, try cutting out all dairy and most caffeine. I shrunk an extra 2% bodyfat in a month and a half by doing that, and still progressing.

How do I find out what my bodyfat is? I wouldn't have a clue!

However I'm not working out what so ever apart from long walks... And all I'm doing is eating healthier... So I don't have any muscle to lose do I?

I'm not sure how cutting out ALL dairy will help? It depends how much you were consuming in the first place.

And the same for caffeine. Please explain.

    Metric to English

    Metric English

    Centimeters (cm) x .39 = inches
    Meters (m) x 3.3 = feet
    Meters (m) x 1.1 = yards
    Kilometers (km) x .6 = miles
    Sq. centimeters (cm2) x .2 = square inches
    Square meters (m2) x 10.8 = square feet
    Square meters (m2) x 1.2 = square yards
    Hectares (ha) x 2.5 = acres
    Cubic meters (m3) x 35.3 = cubic feet
    Liters (l) x 1.1 = quarts (lq)
    Cubic meters (m3) x 284.2 = gallons
    Grams (g) x .04 = ounces (avdp)
    Kilograms (kg) x 2.2 = pounds (avdp)
    Kilowatts (kW) x 1.3 = horsepower

If you want to get rid of those "love handles", you're going to have to burn off the fat, and unfortunately, only long walks and eating "healthier" (we all have our own definition of what healthier is) isn't going to cut it.

Try doing at least one or two days of cardio, 30 mins each day. Even then, just doing cardio will kill any lean muscle mass you have.

    Metric is more scientific

    i.e.

1 litre of water weighs 1 kilogram
    1000 litres of water occupy 1 cubic metre (1m x 1m x 1m) and weighs 1000KG or 1 metric ton

    1000 millimetres = 1 metre
    1000 metres = 1 kilometre

    it all inter relates

    in Area 1 hectare = 10,000m²

where as 1 Acre (imperial) was originally defined as the amount of field you could plough in one day with an ox!

The natural conclusion is that the entire planet (including the US) will all use metric, there's no stopping that!
