K-dramas

I recently discovered a thread where a number of you guys enjoy K-pop (I do as well) and wondered if perhaps any of you happen to watch Korean dramas too? Since so many Korean singers act, chances are they appeared on a number of dramas and sitcoms also.

I started watching them in early 2010 because of my mom. I grew curious about her interest in them, and so I found out for myself what the big fuss was about. They sure are entertaining! Most of them are romantic comedies rather than actual dramas in the American sense. Although there are plenty of different genres of K-dramas as well.

    To date I've watched:
    My Lovely Sam Soon
    What Star Are You From?
    Master Chef
    City Hall
    Boys Over Flowers
    I Really, Really Like You
    Personal Preference
The 1st Shop of Coffee Prince
Unstoppable High Kick! (more of a sitcom than drama)

Out of all those, my favorites are: High Kick!, City Hall, Master Chef, Boys Over Flowers, and My Lovely Sam Soon. I watched these quite compulsively, watching multiple episodes in the row. I was hooked on them from the very beginning, so it didn't take me long to watch the entire series.

Next I plan to watch Princess Hours because it's on EVERYONE'S list of favorite dramas. I'm probably a loser for not having seen it already!

I cannot bring myself to finish Personal Preference. I stopped after 6 episodes. It's just so boring! I thought it'd be really interesting having Lee Min Ho as the leading male pretending to be a gay man. But dude, his character really sucks, haha. He's easy on the eyes, but the development of his character is so dull! Not that I was expecting him to top his Boys Over Flowers role.

For those of you in the US. Hulu.com now streams a handful of k-drama series. I was actually surprised.

No I dumped him. He has since then gained 40lbs because he just kept watching TV, or so I've heard.

Ooh, I'll have to check it out. I mainly watch my dramas on Crunchy Roll and Drama Fever.

Haha, it's quite easy to do that since Coffee Prince is a fairly short series.

I once watched 8 episodes of I Really, Really Like You in one day...

I started Goong/Princess Hours and Greatest Love a few days ago. I can already see the hype over Goong. I have no doubt that I'll enjoy this drama. Meanwhile, Greatest Love shows some promise. However, only 7 episodes are available on DramaFever because it's a current series that just started airing last month in Korea.
