Just tossing the idea out for consumption and/or consideration - there was a thread floating around here somewhere (which oddly enough, ran the gamut from someone having a cheap dinner with JAKE_BENSON or JB82 or whatever he is calling himself currently... to revenge rape to who knows what the thread has mutated into by now....)

SO... would be up for having an impromptu get-together of RJ'ers in NYC at that Pad Thai place ($8.50 for the pad thai, mentioned somewhere in that other epic thread - I'll repost it when I locate it again)...?

IIRC, Ariodante mentioned he would be arriving in NYC around the 6th... so perhaps we could coordinate it after that?

Maybe we can make an RJ flash mob at that Pad Thai place... icon_exclaim.gif

Well if the staff doesn't speak English they are going to know what penis means by the time you're done

Cash had mentioned this place from the other thread:

...Spice Thai. 8th Ave & 20th. Phad Thai, 8.50 with complimentary appetizer.

That's down in Chelsea, fairly easy to get to from the A/C/E lines at 23rd or the 1/2 lines at 18th.

And given the neighbourhood, it's a very good bet that the staff know "penis" and many other nice words. icon_biggrin.gif

Weekday evenings work best for me, probably best after 6pm; I might be able to break away from work for an extended lunch on Monday/Wed/Friday...

I just can't imagine a whole meal for $8:50, sorry; not even a entree. Cheap for me is $50:00, for a meal; sorry. Also I live in one of the worlds best citys to eat out in, you all need to come down to Oz, and not Sydney either, as it's no longer the gay capital of Oz anymore; melbourne is, as it's also Australians cuisine capital too.

The entree is $8.50; factor in beer/drinks and appetizers and of course, gratuities to the server and it drives up the cost a little.

That said, NYC is a place where you can eat the world, and not have to take out a bank loan to do it.

If you know where to look, that is. ;)

Don't you know the word modesty? There are people who are not as fortunate in the money department as you are.

Then you are just ignorant. Finding a good meal is not about how much money you have, it's about how savvy you are. If you don't eat under $50 then you are probably missing out on some really great places where you live, and some really great interactions with others.

I like all restaurants. I've been fortunate enough (from living with my parents) to eat at some of the "best" restaurants in NYC and I can honestly say that I do not believe that price correlates with food. The best meal I ever had in my life only came to about $64 for two people. I can afford to eat anywhere I want, but I would never make that an issue when it came to hanging out with friends. It's so sad that a $50+ meal doesn't come with a complimentary serving of class. icon_rolleyes.gif

I don't even think he has real money. People with real money tend to know to behave better than that.

I must admit Melbourne being the cuisine capital of Australia, you too can eat cheap, depending on the suburb, and your taste in food. I love to eat Japanese food, and even takeaway,( to go) will cost me about $50, but thats a good feed. A japernese restaurant on my own, would cost me about $150,00 up, but thats also with my Sapporo, and sake, and 3 courses. But...I may well be in NYC next yeas, so I may get to find out myself.
