Here's a complaint from a far right religious conservative in Canada just before the last election when the Conservatives got a majority.

"The Conservatives have clearly become a single-issue party, and it’s gotten out of control!
All Canadians are hearing is economy, economy, economy."

Something I'd like to see happening down there, instead of economy economy economy and then spending millions on social engineering the moment they get in.

To quote the inimitable Bachmann: "Social conservatism is fiscal conservatism."

Down here people like that win seats in the House of Representatives, and very possibly may win Republican caucuses in Iowa and Florida.icon_lol.gif

Economy is the foot in the door, right-wing social engineering is the product they push down our throats.

Here in BC politics our two-party Provincial system was shaken up royally and serves as a good lesson. We had left wing NDP and right wing Social Credit. Then a new party calling itself BC Liberal was born. On the televised debate, the NDP and the Social Credit candidate for Premier were flaming back and forth at each other in angry oh-so-RJ-familiar rages.

The Liberal candidate looked squarely into the camera and said,
"This is why nothing gets accomplished in BC."
