So today is my 21st birthday and I'm really pumped. Not just because I can drink in public or go buy alcohol (for my rum cake..icon_smile.gif), but because I set goals for my self at a very early age and I have accomplished many of them before my 21st.

My sophomore year in high school I decided that I wanted to graduate early, go to Chiropractic college and then start my own clinic. Now, I was already early for my age then, almost the youngest in my class of 88 students. After talking with my counselor we had everything set up. I started taking college courses over the summer at age 15 and by the time I graduated high school at 16 and in the 10% of my class, I had already accumulated over 30 college credit hours.

With that being said, I started college in 2007 at 17 at one of the top ranking public colleges in the nation, Texas A&M. During my four years, I changed my career decision to something I knew I would enjoy more long term, group fitness and personal training. The last two years at A&M were absolutely the best. I became a fitness professional and love every minute of it. On May 14, I graduated with my BS in Kinesiology at age 20, and am moving to Chicago to continue personal training and group fitness.

Im writing this forum to get an idea of what you have accomplished, earlier or later in life. What are you goals? What has been your motivation? Stories like yours inspire me and keep me going!

    Cheers!

    Congratulations and happy birthday!

I'm actually moving in the opposite direction - I'm trying to slow down a bit and enjoy being alive. I was so driven for such a long time and only felt like I could rest or relax after all of my work was finished (a trait I got from my dad). There were a lot of things I didn't do over the years because I thought they would get in the way of what I wanted to accomplish. I still regret not taking trips with friends in college and graduate school because I thought I needed to stay home and study (or work at one of my jobs).

I had accomplished what I wanted to in terms of my education and my career, but I felt empty inside. I realized I needed to take care of the other parts of my life, which has made me a lot happier. I'm realizing that work will always be there, but my friends and family may not.

Of course, being the driven person that I am, I'm putting the same amount of energy into enjoying life that I did in accomplishing things.

The primary motivation in my life is the quote, "It's never too late to be what you might have been" by George Eliot. Victor Frankl's book, Man's Search for Meaning also had a huge influence on me.
