Going to Minneapolis next week with a friend, staying downtown, and we're looking for things to do. Figure to go to a Twins game, a casino, and Valleyfair amusement park, any other suggestions?

Also any recommendations for bars/clubs there? I hear the Saloon is the most popular, how is that?

The Saloon is on Hennepin Ave, and some other gay bars, like the Brass Rail. But the Saloon has a dance floor, where taking off your shirt is kinda normal. And if the "Tank" in the back is open, you may find a little rougher trade there, with X-rated gay videos playing. There's also a nice patio further out back.

On Washington Street is the Mpls Eagle, which include the Bolt and Bolt Underground. Depending on the day, and the time you go there, you might want to be wearing leather. I've seen some interesting bondage and hot waxing shows in the Underground.

If you like drag, the Townhouse on University Ave in St. Paul is good. Check their web site for shows. Just a small neighborhood bar, but drag-central.

Too bad you're too early for Pride, which they claim is the 3rd largest in the US after SF & NYC. But they have Pride events all month, so check them out.

Thanks for the help. Are there any bars that are particularly good on a wednesday night?

apparently the Saloon is the best wednesday night these days.
They have pretty good drink deals starting at 10. I have not been on a wednesday, but a friend told me it's pretty fun.

Wow, just got back from Minneapolis, and that city truely blew me away. I had high expectations based on what people have told me, and the city exceeded those expectations. The light rail is so convient, Target Field was awesome, the park with the giant cherry was cool, kyaking on lake calhoun was unbelieveable, and I could go on and on and on about the Mall of America, the casino, and more.

The people I met were the nicest people I've ever met. One guy I met at a bar was so nice, he took me out to dinner, showed me around town for several hours, and was a first class gentleman.

The drink specials at some of those bars were unbelieveable. The city is so clean, and first class. I'm hoping to go back sometime soon. If I wasn't locked into moving to Boston soon, I'd definently would consider a move to Minneapolis.

If you've never been there, check it out. You'll be amazed.
