Now, when you guys travel do you guys prefer to stay at a straight establishment or a gay one? I found something like this and I thought it's interesting?

Y'know, what bothers me is that these pictures looks hot, but I'm sure when I get there will be nothing 'cept trolls. icon_sad.gif

These resorts do not interest me so it doesn't really matter whether they are primarily gay or straight. There is too much to see and do in this world rather than wasting time and money in some resort.

How about "no resort"; I'd rather go camping or couchsurfing.

If I travel on business and really have to use a hotel, I want one with an indoor pool and well equipped fitness center.

I know the Island House quite well. E-mail me directly if you wish. But in summary:

It's one of the largest, if not currently THE largest gay guest house/resort in Key West. It has a real swimming pool (most places have a postage-stamp pool), 2 Jacuzzis, a small gym, sauna & steam room, video "play" room, upper sun deck, and a poolside bar that's open most of the day.

Keep in mind that it's in the Key West "ramshackle" tradition, as I call it, several old houses all linked together in a crazy-quilt of halls & rooms, no Holiday Inn modern uniformity. The less expensive single rooms have no bathrooms, you use a hall bath. But actually not a bad deal, since they're modern, lovely & immaculate, like locker rooms with gang showers (as they also have off their gym), with double sinks, a nice place to run into other single guys. If I were single again those are the rooms I'd take.

As for trolls, its rates are a bit high by local standards for gay places, so expect a largely more mature crowd with money, and mostly couples. Guys your age are rare in my experience. I've heard rumors that the management hires "rent boys" to service single guests, and indeed I may have fucked one who followed me back to my room from the spa, a Romanian 20-something who barely spoke English.

Disadvantages include limited parking, mostly curbside, first come, first served, typical for all the gay guest houses along Fleming Street. And Island House is at the very end of Fleming, as far from Duval Street as you can be, which is the main tourist drag. It's really a hump to walk all the way up there, and you'll want to. If you take your car you'll lose your parking space, unlikely to get another, and you probably won't find parking off Duval, either.

That's why lately we've been staying at New Orleans House, right on Duval. Gay, clothing optional like Island House, but near everything we want. We already have reservations there for July & November. Again, e-mail me if you wish.

That was great read and probably more than deserved response, but the info good for all other RJers. Thx Art Deco.

You're welcome. He told me he was Romanian himself, though I didn't inquire further, like if he was even staying there. At that time they sold day passes to use the facilities, but without a room, and you could dress (or actually undress, since you don't need a swim suit) at the health club lockers, and towels are everywhere. I don't think they sell day passes anymore, which used to give Island House its bathhouse reputation.

I ran into him in the steam room, where he promptly offered to blow me, which surprised me if for no other reason than I was at least 30 years older than him. But otherwise BJs and hand jobs were quite routine in there. After a few minutes he asked if I had a room, and could we go there. I said yes.

I went direct, but he detoured to do something he said, and when he didn't show up after nearly 10 minutes I figured he changed his mind. But when I answered his knock on my door he was now fully dressed, so I didn't know what to expect, me still naked.

But he quickly stripped down, flopped on the bed and asked me if I wanted him on his back, stomach, or knees, or did I want him to fuck me instead (all this is halting, broken English). I guess they don't do much foreplay or other preliminaries in Romania, or else he was on a schedule.

I told him to remain where he was on his back for starters, and raise his ankles back while I lubed him up and got a condom on. He was no virgin but tight enough, and it was a good fuck. After I finished I asked him what he wanted me to do for him, and he said no need. I thought that strange, unless his personal interest in me had suddenly fallen way off, or again, his schedule called.

But I convinced him we both needed a shower, and took him into the very large one my room had. There I gave him a blow job (love uncut Europeans). Then he dried & dressed, asking for no money, and I didn't see him at the resort again for my remaining days there.

Other guests at poolside told me that management let these guys in for free, and might even be paying them a little something, to keep the guests happy & returning, especially the single ones. They even pointed out some guys they claimed were them, that they'd watched going to many different guest rooms.

I can't say it was anything but rumor, and the guys they were talking about being nothing more than horny guests. But my own experience with the Romanian did make me wonder.

Are you planning to visit certain places because of a real touristic interest, or because you want to hook up with guys?

Ugh I forgot about this thread.

Thanks so much AD for sharing your reviews and experiences. I hope I can bump into an Easter European stud and screw and fuck out of him too. Was he by any chance in one of their very hot website photos? icon_lol.gif

Actually, kinda half-&-half. I must admit that I like the attention when guys look at me cuz I'm half-dressed or fully naked in places like gay beaches, clubs, spas. Haven't been to bathhouses yet cuz scared of diseases and stuff.

Also depends on what the vaca is for. Sight-seeing vacas, of course touristic interests are more important. Relaxation vacas, guys more important.
