We do a lot of personal traveling and what I've found is that there is no airline or discount travel site (kayak, priceline, cheapoair, exppedia, etc.) that is consistently the lowest every time. You need to check them all every time you travel.

This. And check multiple times, they can change throughout the day and on different days of the week. How flexible are you? Westchester to Ft Lauderdale, for example, is often much cheaper than NYC to Miami. What about train to Baltimore, then fly? If you are extremely flexible, it is quite likely you will find an extremely low price.

I'm a fan of Kayak...you still will need to check daily for a like a 2-week period, but I consider a time saver. You can always hotwire it if you like surprises.

Don't fly with anyone except Southwest. If you book a month in advance you can get that kinda round-trip for about 300-400 bucks. Can be more expensive if its only 2 weeks away but could even be less if its 3 months out. No fee's on your first 2 bags and they are the most flexbile. If you get there early and want to leave early you can just switch with no charge.

But I am somewhat bias since my dad works for them, and I hope to get a marketing job with them in 2 years.

I forgot you would have to fly out of Ft.Lard and either go to Laguardia or newark.

AirTran...if you're a student, you can get a discount but the only catch is that it's a standby ticket so there's a 50/50 chance that you'll leave when you want to, but flights usually never fill up like that.

**Oh and I forgot to mention, it's broken into segments. So if you fly from Miami, you'll have to go to Atlanta first, that would be one segment, then you fish for a flight to New York, White Plains or Atlantic City (might be the best option). There is no %100 guarantee...so it is possible for you to get stuck in Atlanta....it's happened to me.

Side note: Southwest is a terrific company and I've met Colleen Barrett on a plane she is the sweetest woman you will ever meet. She reminds me of my grandma icon_smile.gif
