From working? and for how long?

I just got back to the gym after 2.5 week, i had an amazing work out, i did a total body workout. I could tell i was a lot more stronger after that long period of time, my bench, dead lift, clean with press were heavier than normal, an increase of about 10-15 pounds in most areas. I usually try to take a break every 8-12 weeks, for about a 5-7 days, but this time it was different. Anyone else felt like that? thoughts and inputs are all appreciated... icon_smile.gif

Yeah, you gotta let your body catch up sometimes. If you're working out hard more than 4 days a week, it's usually best to take a week or two off every so often.

Paul thanks for the reply, I have done it in the past, but this time around i did a lot more than just a week, i went longer to a point i thought i was losing mass, but i was definitely surprised by the Strength gains, unless it could be a placebo icon_eek.gif

I always take a week off to really give my body the proper rest that it needs. However during that week off I eat very clean! When I got back I feel a lot stronger and less burnt-out. I don't gain any weight and I may loose some toness but not much. Also during that time I make sure that I do cardio.

I've been gymless for about a week now while I've been on vacation, so not by choice, but I know these breaks are good once in a while.

You're welcome. It's not a placebo effect. Think how long it took you to make your current gains - two weeks isn't even enough time for your body to start depleting (or building) muscle. It's just the right amount of time to relax and recover from the previous 8-12 weeks of hardcore training.
