The fact is NY needs to account for the loss of 2 congressional seats in the redrawing of districts following the 2010. It would be easy for the NY legislature to do this - he doesn't have many friends on either side of the aisle. They will probably isolate where he lives and throw the balance of his current district in the relaignment so he will have to campaign in an area that does not currently have him as a representative. End of Weiner.

I was actually pretty surprised last night when Ed Schultz on his show said Weiner should resign.

Then today, the growing chorus of Democrats saying out right he should resign, the ones saying "it may be the right choice..." and the fact no Democrat has come out to defend him at all.

I think this is all an effort to just let him know, his days are numbered. They'll just redistrict him out of office (much to the the delight of Reps Maloney and Ackerman - the previous 2 top contenders to be redistricted).

Weiner's mistake -and why he has no friends in Congress coming to his aid unlike Barney Frank did when his own scandal erupted- is that he never really put in the time or effort. He didn't really make friends. Barney Frank put in the time and worked like a dog since he got to Congress - he made friends and that's why they stood by him and stood up for him. Not so for Weiner. He didn't even have to work for his seat - Chuck Schumer more or less gifted him the seat and as a safe Democratic seat, he never really had to do much to keep getting re-elected. He's made no secret of his desire to be Mayor of NYC and all of his passionate speeches in Congress that garnered him all sorts of attention were aimed at the NYC electorate.

Now the transcripts of his facebook chats (this year it seems) are out and his "x-rated" pic is out and seems as if his wife is expecting. I can't see this flying in his district now - but who knows.

Best statement I heard so far - Sen Reid when asked what he'd say if Weiner called him for advice - "I'd tell him to call someone else."

    Yes, the knives are out.

Indeed! Good analysis NYBeef of his estrangement from even his own party.
