Do you cut your own hair?
If not, then how much do you typically pay to have it done and for what sort of style?

I am just curious icon_smile.gif. Only reason I ask is because I cut my own hair and I'm about to do it again right now. Typically I just turn on my trimmer every other week and go to town playing with the mirrors. Occasionally I might mess up a little and nick myself when I'm doing the back of my head or behind my ears, but for the most part I think I do a pretty good job.

I don't trust myself to know how to cut hair, but wish I could.

I have been cutting my own hair since high school and still do it, i wonder how much money i have saved up since then, usually hair cuts run around 12-18 bucks once every two months.

My 2 attempts to cut hair, once my own, once my boyfriends, where spectacular failures. So I don't mind spending 20 bucks (w tip) every 4 weeks. I always feel like a million bucks afterwards.

I find it is very easy to cut or buzz other people's hair... but it is very hard to do your own, especially the crown of your head unless you have an amazing mirror setup. I've done it so many times I can do it without looking, but I always double check... look and feel to make sure I did it right.

I have some friends who are hairstylists and they think I am crazy for cutting my own hair----but I think they are crazy because they refuse to cut their own hair. If I had that training, there is no way I would ever let anyone touch my hair, haha.

@bhp91126 --- a shame that discouraged you! It's really a trial and error sort of process. I screwed up a little the first time a long time ago, but learned very quickly from my mistakes. I used to buzz some of my roommates heads in college... but they were pretty easy, they just wanted everything off and cleaned up around the edges. It's a bit more work if they want a fade because you actually have to change guards a few times, lol.

Hahahaha!!! That's kind of how mine went.

My college roommates saw me doing it, and they asked me if I could do theirs. I was like uhh.. do you see how I am hanging upside down and backwards holding mirrors trying to give myself a fade? Of course I can do yours, LOL.

I have mine cut, but I set up a deal with a stylist friend of mine. He has a filthy car. So I wash his car and he cuts my hair. Fair trade because it takes 45 minutes of my time do wash and vacuum, do a coating and Aromourall the tires.

    Well worth it.

I cut my own hair, it's basically some derivative of a pompadour. I buzz the back and sides, then jaggedly cut the top with scissors and style with pomade. My roommate cleans up my neck line.

I usually get compliments about my hair soo i think do an acceptable job

I cut my own hair, but a mohawk isn't exactly a difficult cut. I'll also give myself a high-and-tight or a recon, depending on what time of year it is (I have a system that makes sense to only me).

I used to cut my trainer's hair either for a training session, or a bottle of whiskey, whichever she preferred. I've cut many of my friends' hair, both male and female. It gives me a chance to bring out my inner perfectionist without someone bitching that I'm OCD or anything (I suppose when it's their head / hair, they don't mind).

Bill makes me lie in the grass, then puts a boot on my neck to keep me still and uses the weed wacker.

my hair is in my pic. Honestly, its the best I can do. Its all cowlicks. I have to wear it short. Plus long gray hair makes you look like a homeless guy.

I pay $28 but tip $7 to its $35. The salon I go to raised their prices several times but I have been going there for 10 years so they have never charged me the new rates. I think they charge guys $40.

I do! But I obviously get someone to do the back!

Unless I want it shaved...then I just get whoever is in the house.

I wouldn't say I am good. I am always surprised my shaky hands don't leave me like Leonardo da Vinci at the end of a haircut.

I honestly don't know why I ever payed to get my haircut in the first place. Doing it yourself can be a lot of fun and if you fuck it up, just break out the clippers and start back at square 1.
