I just agreed to a two-year contract with Verizon for around $120 per month. I feel like a complete sucker.

I've been getting by for the last couple years with a prepaid plan from Straight Talk. $50 per month covered everything, but the phones are pretty basic. I need a phone that will help to free me from my office, but I can't believe I am paying more than double what I pay now.

    Maybe I'm just cheap...

i'm with ya, i got at&t unlimited data 1500 texts, and 450 a mo w/ rollover, but i never talk on tha phone, and my so called "3G" is so slow that i think setting it to edge is actually faster, plus they wanted to charge me an extra $50 a mo for tetering 4gb's of slow ass data, they can get bent, i jus got a 4G hotspot from sprint and m lovin it, its around 50 a month, i might get an ipod touch and vonage, sure it would b 2 devices, but i think i could take my bill from around $150 a month, to about $70 a month. i believe u actually have 30 days, dont throw away the phone packaging, thats another shdy thing they do. We are being robbed blind by cell phone providers, it's time we fought back

Hmmmm, I'm on Verizon with an Android phone, 900 minutes, 500 texts, unlimited data and it costs me $99/month. I signed up with my current plan in March 2010, maybe that is making the difference?

I'm so sorry that you went with Verizon. I had Alltel to begin with then Verizon bought them out.

I had so many peoples with my phone and their only recourse was for me to buy a new phone, upgrade the plan for another $30 a month, pay a $20 upgrade fee, and sign a new two year contract. They were so unprofessional and so glad when my contract ran out.

Also do you get unlimited data with your phone? Most new contract with Verizon do NOT come with unlimted data (but they don't tell you that) but still charge extra. Be careful.

I switched to nTelos and love them. Awesome customer service and also have 1 year contracts.

    Good luck.

We're with US Cellular, two phones, nationwide plan, some hundreds of minutes, unlimited texting, free incoming, 5 gigs of data per month per phone, no charge for tethering, $140 per month.

Yeah I just cancelled my order. Fuck this shit. I'm gonna go shop around a bit tomorrow for something else. Boost has some pretty good deals but they are on the Sprint network which is hit-or-miss in my area.

the lie is that its the gold in the technology that makes it so expensive because it doesnt rust, the gold in the tech is less than one thinks and certainly not worth the expenditure.

No, you're not cheap, phone plans are RIDICULOUS. I just bought the white iPhone 4 tonight and AT&T charges an $18 upgrade fee even though I was out of contract and eligible for an upgrade. WTF? I complained and they waived it but these companies just rape their customers unless you keep an eye on what you're being billed for.

That's WAY too much! I have had my unlocked iphone through T-Mobile for years. I pay 79.95 a month for unlimited talk, unlimited text and unlimited internet. You have 3 days to legally revoke your contract.

what do you need in a phone?

if sprint coverage is sufficient, you can get a virginmobile android smartphone for $40/mo (1200min/unlimited text&data). granted, android is pretty crappy compared to an iphone, but the $50 monthly difference is enough to overlook that gap.

    I have verizon android 2 global. 900 min a month, unlimited text/data and it's hmmm 79.00 - 20% discount and a 3G mobile hotspot.
No issues with it, as I also get to submit the bill (127.00/mo) for both devices to work. icon_smile.gif +Win+
