The ruling African National Congress, is bringing before parliament a bill that would effectively muzzle our press. They are also proposing that a tribunal be set up, so that all reports and news is first cleared by the government.

At the height of Apartheid, the Nationalist regime under PW Botha brought in press censorship and all news reports first had to be cleared by a government office first. At the same time, journalists were harrased, poisoned, shot or forced to flee the country.

PLEASE SIGN THE PETITION TO KEEP THE PRESS IN SOUTH AFRICA FREE FROM GOVERNMENT CENSORSHIP.

One would imagine with so many people here at RJ who just swim with the dead fish, and only to hear what they want to hear, from their beloved CNN: Communist network News, or the New York Times, would welcome such a repression of the media, and free speech. Not to say they don't belive in free speech, so long as they hear what they want to hear.

My vote is for us Gold Card Gays; thus freedon od speech.

I fear we may slip back into a repressive dictatorship. Nelson Mandela spent 27 years in jail and thousands of people died so that we all could enjoy freedom. It would be tragic if the ANC threw that all away.
