I know drinking tap is more socially responsible but even when I filter it, there is a smell/taste that makes it tough to drink. Anyone else?

That's not a tap, it's a man with a sink tied to his waist.

It really depends on where you are.
I know in Phoenix you really couldn't drink water from the tap. Here in Indiana it's fine. It annoys me when people buy those stupid bottles of water.

How many people in the US drink bottled water rather than tap water?

really depends on which part of the U.S. i think my tap water's good.

Nope, tap water is pretty good in Chicago... even if it weren't, I would suck it up and drink it because you're right, it is more socially responsible. I understand buying a bottle here and there when you're out, but people who drink exclusively bottled water... I just don't understand. So awful.

I think my city water is damn tasty. I buy a bottle of water when my last one smells funky, then reuse until it smells funky. Prolly not the healthiest.

Well someone finally made the joke. Anyway, the water from your tap comes from somewhere. Every city has a different source, and a different way of cleaning it up. Even though they clean the shit, yes literally shit, out of it, they can't filter our drugs and hormones that have been flushed down people's toilets, or the solvents they've used to clean their paint brushes. I'm a tap water drinker, but I run it through a Britta Filter. So now I have cancer, and I'm wondering, does the Britta do any better at creating purity than a Republican Governator promoting family values?

Here in San Francisco, we're supposed to have some of the best tap water, since it's piped all the way from the Sierra Mountains. But, once in a great while, it has a really nasty taste (and smell). I always keep a big bottle of store bought water on hand, just in case.

I have a reverse osmosis but even without it my tap water is pretty good. I'm 30 miles from the continental divide, so our municipal water is really close to the beginning of the loop. What I flush gets re-used by dozens or even hundreds of towns and cities as it work its way down the Wind, Bighorn, Yellowstone, Missouri, & Mississippi Rivers.

I don't know anyone who drinks tap water in San Diego. We're at the end of the line for water distribution, with a good portion of it coming down the Colorado River all the way here, so its pretty hard by the time it gets to us. When I go to other parts of the country, I remember what good water tastes like.

I think the deeper rooted question is: How do you know what piss tastes like? icon_twisted.gif
